The Alonso Thread - hands in transfer request

Rafa is doing what I expected of him, not yielding to Real Madrid and Ibañez the cúnt's tricks.

Alonso said it all when he said he has a contract here, nobody put a gun on his head to sign it, and If Pompey didn't sell their Diarreahs cheap, Liverpool F.C. can't be a smoother target to approach.

If a silly offer eventually comes then I hope Alonso goes because I'm not happy with the commitment he has shown to the club this summer. If a don't good enough offer comes then I hope he's a good professional as he has been until now.

Whats the feeling in basque country about Xabi signing for them madrid kunts Sabre?

And if RS dont get any money from the deal how will that go down?

It's a big conditional, but assuming he does hand in a transfer request (which would be very un-Xabi), then we have to get a little more realistic over negotiations. Though I'd still be looking to push the £30m mark going by the state of the market - enough to buy a replacement with a little left over to supplement other areas of the squad. They scooped Owen for a miserly fee, and nabbed Macca on a free so consider it the outstanding amount.

If they aren't willing to meet the valuation, they can look elsewhere and I don't necessarily agree that we'd be left with a big problem on our hands. The hype dies down, Xabi returns to life on Merseyside and training with the lads before reality sets in, still on a three year deal and with a huge season ahead of us. He doesn't seem the kind of guy to get the 'ump, and once the season starts we're all geared up and ready to go and his focus turns to Liverpool. The fans will continue to sing his name and soon enough the whole saga will have diffused.

That really is the decisive unknown for me - how upset would he be? Perhaps there could be family reasons behind any suggestion of a move? Only Rafa and those closest to Xabi know the answers to these questions. If Rafa could reasonably see that the guy has his heart set on a return to Spain, and there is a family element to it, then I'd be convinced we should really be looking to let him go (once we'd done everything to convince him otherwise that is). If we ignored those wishes then it could turn personal and to that extent Xabi could feel thoroughly disregarded. That isn't a line we want to cross going into a new season, and besides out of decency we'd do well to grant him his wish. I suspect that could be a big part of the motivation as he isn't your typical 'money grabbing so and so' of a player, while he'll get a great sporting opportunity whether he stays or goes.

At the end of the day even if he says he wants to go he is under contract so it has to be on our terms not because he has suddenly decided to throw his rattle out of the pram.

I don't believe it is just a family issue as Xabi was quoted as saying that it was possible that he could stay in England (presumably Arsenal/Man city? ) and that all options were open. I would have expected if it was family reasons he would have dismissed out of hand any transfer with English clubs and maybe even Italian clubs depending on the problem.

In San Sebastian we think that we have been lucky enough with the money we received from Alonso so far. The original selling price was 11M with variables, which depended on games played by Xabi and how far Liverpool reached in the Champions League. Due to that variables the selling price would be 16M. The 20% selling clause had a expiring date and everybody understands that if it has an expiring date Liverpool will seek to defend their interests (doing another thing would be silly), so that did go down well.

As for joining Real Madrid no one loves the idea one iota. But he hasn't been the first RS player doing that and he won't be the last.

As a Liverpool fan I've been following this chapter more closely than the common San Sebastian fan. From my retirement in Deep Spain, I've still had some info and could read Marca.

What the fúck Xabi, 5 years in Liverpool, and the only friend from Liverpool you have to invite to your wedding, are these cúnts

Image

the only link with the reds are Luis Garcia and Pako who were invited, alongside other ex RS players. No Torres, no Reina, No Stevie? I'm not anyone to say who must be Alonso's friends, but I must say it dissapointed me deeply not to see reds there. Not a good sign.

I'm not happy with Alonso's attitude so far. It seems to me he has too much pride and too much resentment for last year's episode. He has been a good professional this season no doubt, but I was hoping he was able to see that Liverpool F.C. is much bigger than Rafa. Fair enough he doesn't talk with Benitez about personal things and he dislikes him, but FFS, it's the team mates, the fans, and the club aswell. As a professional he has to be able to see that we're close to winning it. He has to eat his pride and fight for his professional goals.

I think that cúnt of agent Ibañez didn't help either.

Thanks Xabi for your memories but now it's time to go. Just as well he didn't invite any of our lads because he has proven he wouldn't have the balls to look them in the eye. Sorry to all the Xabi fans here but this is a pussy :censored: move from Alonso and I hope Rafa drags it out as long as possible so that he gets as much as he can.

Foreign players go figure. I wonder if we will be going through this again in a few years with Torres.

Sabre's picture has me wondering...what if we were to bring Arteta across the park to replace Xabi if he goes?  Another cultured midfielder that's  certainly shown he's suited to the English game.  It would wind the Bitters up no end as well. :D

RM screwed us once, Macca, screwed us twice, Owen. We need to hold firm on Alonso.
Well, Mancs did that to ronaldo that season terry lost the champs league.
Alonso is not unhappy and Anfield, he even said that the fans gave him strength when he felt unwanted, it is just RM and his agent screwing with his mind right now.
It will all die down soon, and RM will find a new target to screw with.

Benitez is an hypocrite and a cynic,

You must be really cheeky to demand loyalty from one player who you despised the last year putting him onto the market for 16 millions.

And now Rafa ask for loyalty and gratitude? There is no point losing sleep over it now.

If I were Xabi just would tell Benitez he can go to fuc.k off and stick his hypocrisy in his fat as.s.

When/where did he say that??? I haven't been keeping too close an eye on all the reports.

Yeah well he has several years left on his deal so it's not like he can suddenly just decide he wants to go. If he wants to go then Real have to pay what we want.

And how much would the bitters demand for him? Nice idea but would never happen.

It was a while ago now, just before he went to South Africa I think.

"In respect to all this I have not closed any door and we will just have to wait and see what happens.

"It is always positive when various teams are said to want you because that is better than nobody being interested, but I cannot say much more.

"I know that I have to keep playing well and will be able to decide what happens next whenever it arises.

"I do not think a move to Real Madrid is impossible, but I would also have no regrets at all staying at Liverpool.

"My relationship with Benitez is professional, just like he has with any other player. I believe that is how things will stay too," Alonso continued.

"I am happy in England and have adapted, but I do miss certain things from Spain. I cannot rule out a move or even staying in the Premier League.”

I interpret that to mean he could stay in the Premier League with us, or there's the possibility of a move to Madrid. Wouldn't really make sense to move to another English club, I think that's quite unlikely. Good news that he says he wouldn't have any regrets staying. Seems to imply he wouldn't be too miffed after all which strengthens our position all round.
