Definately a tough call. There is no doubt in my mind that we have seen the best of Robbie, injuries and leaving his beloved LFC have taken thier their toll. I still believe we have yet to see the very best of Michael Owen.

Who would you prefer to have in your team? Robbie at his best or Mikey?

Owen by a country mile.

Fowler could have been top class but was never one of the worlds top 5 and never would have been.

Fowler will get all the votes though because he's the favourate. :)

But still... we miss ya Rob!!

A close call, but it has to be Michael Owen.

Fowler, deadly and consistent. There isn't much in it, but I don't remember Robbie going through long goalless spells like Mikey. TBH I wish we still had both, I note Robbie got two in three minutes to turn the game against Bolton today. When was the last time Owen scored two (quick) goals to turn round a game for Liverpool?

I think Owen is the bette one of the two and Owen has better skills than Fowler although Fowler is perhaps the better finisher.

I'm divided on this one - Fowler was absolutelty unstoppable for a few seasons before the injuries + too many choc chip cookies. Owen has done far more at International level but has not the sheer quantity of goals that Robbie managed in just a few seasons. It a shame Robbie didn't get more time in an England shirt during his pomp so we could see what he may have been capable of.

Maybe Robbie will be back in a red shirt scoring goals one day!  :D

Pro's and cons!!!

Owen  Pro's                Fowler Pro's

Pace                         Natural Goal scorer
Shooting accuracy      Shooting accuracy
Head on the game       Will do something out
                               of the ordinary
creator of goals          Creator of goals
Can take on players     Great passer and vision

Owen Cons

Does not score from outide the area
does score enough headers
Disire for the red shirt?
Injury prone

Fowler cons

Not the fastest
lathargic
did not the rotation (but what striker does!)

My opinion

Why couldnt they perform together well, with the right service they could have been lethal, and they were perhaps not given the opputunity? Heskey was and he took it, i think houllier was looking for a pace and power, big man small man partnership, to suit a counter attacking style of football!!!!

So i am undevided who was better, both legends and awsome players!!!  And i dont think fowler is finished, he still has the quality and ability, and could still wear the red!!!!

Owen is professoinally better has the tools to be world class probably already is. Fowler in his pomp legendary at finishing even with his a#se, but even without the injuries would never have been targeted by the big euro clubs and sadly, never ever shone for England but that was probably timing, ie: Shearer and Sheringham in their prime were a great pair which left Fowler, like Wright, the odd man out.

Shame, so on that analysis i have to go with St Micheal rather than God

I've never seen a player with Owen's ability when he first came through, not even Rooney (who i haven't seen as much of) who i also believe has world class potential.

Fowler was an exceptional goalscorer... but when Owen came into the side at 17 he looked a class act from the word go. Fowler looked very raw, Fowler always had more technical ability and a bit more of a goalscoring touch, but Owen's alround game was and is of a far greater standard.

I would have loved them to play together. That performance in 45 minutes against Charlton was the best i'd seen from a strike partnership for years and thats saying something.

Owen was the best but i'd have loved nothing more than to see them both regulars banging the goals in left right and centre. Hopefully Benitez will bring god home and cure his broken football heart. :D

I miss ya Bob :(
