Pre season 2023

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Pre season fixtures

Liverpool
July 19: Karlsruher SC - BBBank Wildpark, Karlsruhe
July 24: Greuther Furth - behind closed doors
July 30: Leicester City - The Singapore National Stadium, Kallang
August 2: Bayern Munich - The Singapore National Stadium, Kallang

Whatever it takes to start the season well. Last year we looked awful and people said “ it’s only preseason”, as it happened we had a bad year. I hope our sole focus is winning the PL this year, winning is addictive  and it starts in preseason.

Thanks for that mate, it will come in handy that.
Completely agree about what you are saying about hitting the ground running as well, last season we got battered by United in Thailand early on in pre season and we never seemed to recover, that result seemed to set the tone for the whole campaign

Pre-season programme for 2023-24 will begin at the AXA Training Centre on Saturday.

Eight members of Jürgen Klopp’s senior squad are set to return for day one: Adrian, Stefan Bajcetic, Fabinho, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Darwin Nunez, Nathaniel Phillips and Thiago Alcantara.

The Reds players who have been on international duty during the summer will then get their schedule under way on Tuesday July 11.

Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones will join up at a later date following their participation in the U21 European Championship with England.

Klopp’s men will play five pre-season friendlies in the coming weeks, beginning with matches against Karlsruher SC and Greuther Furth in Germany.

Liverpool then face Leicester City and Bayern Munich as part of their Singapore tour, before returning to the UK and meeting SV Darmstadt 98 at Deepdale.

So this is the timeline:

28 May - Final game of the season against Southampton
14 to 20 June – International duty for Alisson, Kelleher, Trent, Conor Bradley, Robertson, Tsimikas, van Dijk, Konate, Henderson, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Luis Diaz, Jota, Salah, and Gakpo
June 21 to July 8 – Elliott and Jones at the U21 European Championship
8 July – Players who did not have international duty return to training: Adrian, Bajcetic, Fabinho, Gomez, Matip, Nunez, Nat Phillips, and Thiago.
11 July – Players who had international duty return to training (excluding Elliot and Jones who will join later). I imagine we’ll fly out to Germany for our training camp a few days after this.
19 July – Friendly v Karlsruher SC in Germany
24 July – Friendly v Greuther Furth in Germany
30 July – Friendly v Leicester in Singapore
2 August – Friendly v Bayern in Singapore
7 August – Friendly v Darmstadt in Preston (in place of usual friendly at Anfield which can’t go ahead because of the Anfield Road end development)
13 August – Opening game of the season away to Chelsea

Liverpool to step up preparations with 'super-important' training camp in Germany

Liverpool will step up their 2023-24 preparations on Saturday when they head to Germany for a training camp.

The Reds will be based in the southern state of Baden-Württemberg, where they will continue to work towards the start of the new campaign over the course of 10 days.

Liverpool will also face Karlsruher SC and Greuther Furth in friendly fixtures.

Jürgen Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “[It will be] super-important. Super, super-important. We have a lot of sessions there, not a lot of spare time, I would say. Two games, one in the middle, one at the end. Yeah, very important.

“So, there are now not too many new players but [we have] a lot of young players, of course, in and young players for who the door is open, who can play a different role next season. They are all a year older, looking really good – Conor Bradley looking really good, Ben Doak really good, Bobby Clark grew somehow, which is normal!

“They all can play a slightly different role if they want and yeah, how I said, there is an open door for that.

“So, bring it all together and train as much as somehow possible, having short ways back to the bed or to the canteen or restaurant, that’s good. Yeah, having two games and the first two games we play will be interesting, of course.”

After returning to the UK, Liverpool will head out to Singapore later in the week, where they will take on Leicester City and Bayern Munich.

The Reds’ final summer game will be against SV Darmstadt 98 at Deepdale on August 7.

32 man squad for the 10 day training camp in Germany has been confirmed.

Ramsay (Preston), Rhy Williams (Aberdeen), Harvey Davies (Crewe), Carvalho (RB Leipzig), and van den Berg (Mainz), have all had loan deals sorted so are not going.

Jones and Elliott are still on holiday after the Euro U21s.

Most notable absence is Fabinho which means a transfer must be close. Morton and Kaide Gordon also not travelling. With Gordon he'll still on the road to recovery so I think it was expected. Little less clear on Morton as he did pick up an injury towards the end of last season but he also could be lined up for another loan/permanent move.

Travelling party:

                                  Alisson
                                 Kelleher
                                 Pitaluga
                                  Adrian
                              Jaros/Mrozek

Trent               Konate               Van Dijk               Robertson
Bradley             Matip                 Gomez                Tsimikas
                       Phillips               Quansah               Scanlon

    Szoboszlai               Henderson               Mac Allister
        Clark                    Bajcetic                    Thiago
     McConnell

         Salah                    Gakpo                       Diaz
         Doak                     Nunez                       Jota
     Frauendorf                                              Koumas

Steady first half.. Salah looks really sharp. Others look a little bit off pace understandably.

Szoboszlai has played a few accurate long balls and looking very positive on the ball, only thing lacking from him surprisingly was his pressing.

Darwin looks like nothing can go right for him still. Running offside, missed a good header.. and got lucky with the goal playing a awful ball for Salah but luckily got it back to slot home.
