Prem Luton away Nov 5th 2023

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby woof woof ! » Sun Nov 05, 2023 3:10 pm

Given the disparity between us and Luton I'm naturally expecting a win . I'm wondering if we'll field our best 11 and look to thrash them or give some "second stringers" another chance to shine ?

Either way , provided there's no howlers from our lads we should net all the points today  :buttrock

Liverpool team news - Diaz on the bench
Team to play Luton: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Salah, Jota, Nunez.

Subs: Kelleher, Endo, Diaz, Gakpo, Elliott, Tsimikas, Matip, Doak, Quansah.

ONE CHANGE - GOMEZ AT LB INSTEAD OF TSIMIKAS

Gomez at LB instead of Tsimkas which is fair enough, Kostas has looked a bit lightweight defensively this season.
Looks a decent side

Gomez at leftback is a puzzling one.

If Tsimikas isn't good enough to start when Robbo is injured, what's the point of having him?

Good point, defence is always an area we struggle to have like for like back up.

Yeah, that's a bit of a head scratcher  :Oo: . Obviously he's not the best defensive LB we've ever had but I've always admired his ability on the ball and the crosses he puts in going forward (I actually think he's a better crosser of the ball than Robbo) . Maybe Jurgens just giving him a bit of rest ?

p.s. Just thinking , has Gomez ever played at Left Back ????????

Erm , thinking again  , maybe we'll see a back three , with Trent increasingly sliding into midfield  :nod

Ross Barkley starting for Luton. He's only 29, what the hell happened to his career?

He was billed as the next big thing when he apparared at the Bitters  :D

Luton playing like it's a cup final for them. It's grit v quality . We should slow it down a tad and run the legs off them.  :buttrock

Slight aside . Is this the shittiest away shirt we've ever had  ?  :eyebrow

Wouldn't wear it, even if it was given away for free .

Yeah it's a horrible Jersey alright

Just not taking our chances here and they are growing in confidence towards the end of the half.  Still think we have the momentum to go on and win this with the first opening the gates!!

I'd give it ten minutes then start making changes. Gakpo for Jota to begin.

Front 3 haven't been at the races today. I'd give it until 60th min before bringing on Diaz or Gakpo.
