I don't think Coates is suited to Rodgers' game, he hasn't been able to bring the ball out and pass it forward even once. Always looks shaky, even against this lot.

He's a good defender though. The passing thing is learnable

Adequate first half, should certainly be more than 1 up - the Mansfield keeper is having a blinder. Not surprised though, playing great in the FA Cup against Premiership opposition is a massive opportunity for these players to get transferred.

That said, we need to keep the pressure and score early on in the second half to neutralise any confidence Mansfield might have be only being 1 down.

It'd be foolish not to bring an established striker to a game like this. They could get a goal back and Suridge could get injured...then what?

Decent 1st half, sturridge could've had 2 or 3. Great movement by Shelvey and our front 3. We switched off for the last 15 mins or so and need to give ourselves a slap in the face at half time.

I missed a decent bit after the goal when my stream died, but from what I've seen the application/passion of the team isn't looking great, few players look like they actually care and it is terribly slow. Hope for more application and pace in the 2nd half.

Started well, then it got scrappy.

Nice finish by Sturridge.

At 1-0 it feels like a real cup tie - don't know whether that's a good thing or bad thing.

I don't think he's a great defender either, lacks far too much in pace, as was apparent just now
