I'm going to be doubly positive and say that I expect us to win 4-0 and put to bed once and for all any doubts that we won't finish in the top seven.

Rafa Benitez is not ruling Fernando Torres out of featuring for Liverpool next week despite his troublesome knee.

The striker is due to return to Spain to once again see a specialist - but has so far been unable to do so because UK flights are grounded.

In the meantime, he will continue to train and receive rehabilitation at Melwood - and could yet feature in next week's crucial matches against West Ham and former club Atletico Madrid.

Benitez explained: "Yesterday I was talking with him and the doctors and analysing how he feels. At this moment he is working hard with the physios and staying in the gym for a while, and we're seeing what happens.

"We are waiting. We have some problems with the flights, so we're working with him here and after that he has to see another specialist to be sure everything is fine.

"It's the doctor who did the operation in the past so he has a better knowledge of the knee. Now we're waiting and if he can go we'll have a better idea.

"In my last conversation with him (Fernando) we spoke about him playing against West Ham. Now we have to wait and see how he progresses. He's fine. He can't be on the pitch now but he's fine."

We'll tw@t them either way.

I don't know if thrashing West Ham five or six nil will make me happy or hacked off we couldn't score more in previous games eg Fulham. I think we'll save our best football for Thursday, well at least our best away football.

What odds Torres starting, playing 60 minutes and being taken off with the score at 0-0 with Rafa citing it is to make sure he doesn't get injured then playing 90 minutes in Spain? I'd say probably no chance, what with Ashes to Ashes on constantly at most airports I think the chances are he'll stay out in Spain and will join up with the squad there if he is fit to play this week - not ruling out altogether the possibility there never was an injury

Of course it is hard to give a feck about league results with fourth seeming a distant dream, about the same as the league title was back in October/November time. What would winning mean?

4. Tottenham P34 PTS 64 (GD +28)
5. Man City P34 PTS 62 (GD +27)
6. LIVERPOOL P34 PTS 56 (GD +21)
7. A Villa P33 PTS 55 (GD +12)
8. Everton P35 PTS 54 (GD +54)

Well in all probability winning would mean the bitters should struggle to overtake us. villa is out of our hands, they win their game in hand then we need to start turning 'should win' s into actual points. If we were to win we'd be five points behind spudz and they'd have a game in hand, I think fourth is out of the question. We could finish on 68 points if we win our four remaining games, even if we managed that then what chance is there of neither spudz nor citeh picking up 5-6 points from their last four games? It's almost making me physically sick typing this and thinking that we're in a battle to preserve 6th and pray things go our way so we might move up a place. I think we're facing Euro Disney football next season and more Monday nights folks, and the finger of blame goes towards the manager. You might excuse poor league form, but had we not fecked up so badly in Europe then we might still be in the Champions League for which Rafa still gets massive credit for success in. Too much to ask for wins at HOME to Fiorentina (EIGHTH in Serie A) or Lyon (third in France, nine points behind Marseille at the top) ?!?! But we fecked up Rafa's speciality early too, in fact this Euro Disney league is about our most successful campaign of the season having gone out of the Champions League at the first hurdle, the FA Cup at the first hurdle and the Carling Cup at the first hurdle.
