It is simply a case of we must win every single match from now until the end of the season to hang onto any slim hopes of top 4 and hope others decline at the same time.

I think this Newcastle match will be fairly straight forward for us, i watched them twice recently and they looked less than average, far worse than we have been, i think this is a good opportunity to get a league win and some goals for the goal difference column

Sakho and Lallana are both still struggling and Skrtel / Gerrard sit out through suspension. No update on Mario's mystery illness at the moment though.

So all thing's considered and Emre Can being available again, i would consider lining up something like this...

                                          Mignolet

                 Can                    Lovren                 Toure

          Henderson             Lucas      Allen               Moreno

                                  Coutinho   Markovic

                                         Sterling

Yup, would leave Sturridge on the bench, he has been poor of late and probably due to injury

I wouldn't go with Hendo at RWB and Allen and Lucas at CM and nor will Brendan after what happened vs. Arsenal (what the hell was he thinking?). Personally, I wouldn't go with all three of Lucas, Allen and Hendo in the same line-up regardless of where they play, it's too negative and we lack creativity that way, but I think BR will play like we played against Blackburn (4 at the back, these 3 in midfield and Coutinho, Sterling and Sturridge up front).

I'd go with this:

                                      Mignolet

Johnson             Toure                 Lovren             Moreno

Markovic          Henderson              Can              Coutinho

                                        Sterling
                                       Sturridge

Chances are Brendan wont... He'll probably go for a 3-6-1 with all sorts of garbage like Henderson and Sterling on wingback and Lucas and Allen down the middle, etc.

The sooner we start playing Can at CM and Sterling down the middle behind the front line the better. If we had Balotelli fit I would have proposed starting him alongside Sturridge  with Sterling, Henderson, Coutinho, and Can in a diamond behind them. We're too negative in our approach and given how far behind we are, we'll need to take risks to try and bridge the gap. His selections for this one will be both telling and interesting.

Rodgers confirms that Ibe will come back into squad v Newcastle. 'He has looked sensational.

Rodgers on Mario: 'He was injured v Arsenal and has been ill this week. We will see how he is.'

Rodgers says Lallana will still be missing.

I think for the first time in my life I will be cheering United on tomorrow in the Manchester derby.
If United beat City and we beat Newcastle on Monday there will only be 4 points between us and that will be on level games as well.

I would go for a draw or a City win as well mainly because i can't believe that United can continue with this farce of winning while looking like utter shiite ,it's got to stop.

Yeah good point, once today is out the way it looks plain sailing for City (on paper at least).
A City win is probably the best result for us.

I doubt we'll make fourth regardless of the result today. I hope the scum get battered.
