Lee is a professional (i.e he earns his living out of the game) and like any professional he is going to do the best job he possibly can for the people who pay his wages. Do you expect players and coaches to only work for the teams they supported as a kid or something?

Having looked at it again, I really don't think it was racist as no one else other than Holgate reacted and I don't believe Holgate speaks Portuguese either, he may have misinterpreted what was said or used it as a smokescreen to not get into trouble for the push.

He told him the truth that he was a bitch...and i would investigate that holgate bitch for false accusations.

It was a typical cup game and Liverpool deserved to win despite limited or lack of creativities due to absentees of Coutinho and Salah, which it was badly evident. What a start by Virgil and he deserve all the credit for winning the game.
It was a penalty no doubt about it.

Firmino did not racially-abused Holgate!, he just swore at him and this is no crime, however, the referee was rather weak, and should have sent off Rooney.
I am a bit disappointed when some of so-called Liverpool fans were abusing their own player CAN when he made a mistake at Everton corner flag, that was really bad, Why can't they abuse the useless Solanke who doesn't offer anything to the team, I understand he is a young player, however, Liverpool has much better young players the likes of Woodburn, Ings, and others who are much better than Solanke!!.. Weird manager if is not a nutcase!
We have a tough game next week against M. City, and we must win this game.

I am a bit worried about Coutinho if we lose him this week, this for sure would weaken our team a great deal, simply you can't replace him with Solanke!

But the ref didn't seem to react until Holgate made his complaint, no one did, if Firmino was shouting racist slurs right down the ear of the referee you'd expect to see a reaction from the ref, you'd expect to see him turn around and look at Firmino with a shocked expression on his face.

I've read a Portuguese lip readers take on it and I'm sure It read ended in 'puta'. So could he not have simply misheard him? Firmino was speaking another language but Holgate mistakenly thought English?
