LIVERPOOL VS ASTON VILLA - Anfield: 06/12/2010 20:00

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Quality stuff from the lads tonight.  Who would have thought we'd walk it against Villa with Torres, Stevie and Carra absent?  Nice to see some team cohesion and some quality pressing play.  The goals were all taken well and Villa only managed one proper chance the whole match.  More of the same against the Barcodes next week lads.

He did.

Rafa won the champions league with a majority of Houilliers signings, or players he helped to develop.

What has Rafa left Roy? a defensive squad with one main striker. I cant stand andy gray at the best of times but in this he is right.

Great result, really made up

Iciing on the cake was absence of key players let some players step up and Meireles showing his class in the centre

I'm sure I can remember a time when Stevie was playing on the right quite often. I'm also sure that you would probably have been ridiculing the decision, just like Gray.

A great result, especially considering we were missing our 3 most influential players. Good to see Gerard back in the dug-out, too. :blues:

A quality gesture from the KOP.

What a difference it makes when your defence isn't sat so deep and are 10-20 yards further upfield with everyone including Babel  :Oo: harrying down balls. We played possesion well and pressed well and reeped the rewards. I said before the game we look cack on paper without Gerrard and Nando, thank God the game is played on grass.

I would hate to see Roy split up Raul and Lucas as a meaningful partnership is being developed.I'd play Stevie in the hole behind Torres. It worked very well when we were chasing for the title and the lads in midfield are now showing the confidence to perform well without everything going through Stevie G. Alonso of all the players that have gone  has been the most difficult to replace. What he created for Gerard and Torres was immense but the quality coming through from Raul is very encouraging.

Dawson > Bermenstein

Keep it up! :D

Quality last night, Roy's starting to turn Anfield into a tough place to go again. Sort the away form and we might just be good to go. Got to say I'm not optimistic on that front but this is a start anyway

Don't see him, even when on form, solving our left mid/wing "problem". He did take his goal very well indeed BUT if he'd been in a similar position on the left I doubt very much if he'd have scored it or even taken the shot on.

If he's gonna be used at all I'd play him as a second striker or right winger, he is after all naturally right footed.
