ALWAYS SAID KENNY WAS THE WRONG MAN, AND I'VE BEEN PROVED RIGHT. HOW CAN A BUNCH OF JAPANESE AMATEURS SCORE THREE GOALS PAST US?

Disappointing numbers, the stadium was only a little over half full to my eyes, but the ones there were actually pretty good. Plenty of noise throughout.

As far as the game was concerned, obviously it was only the first game of preseason, but here are my thoughts:

Shelvey really would benefit from being loaned out for a season. Neither he or Spearing really impressed themselves on the centre of the pitch like the senior players did. They played OK, but Shelvey especially needs games.

On that note, Adam does add a different dimension to our play - not all of his passes came off, but he splays them around in a way no one else on the team does.

I didn't realise how big Aquilani actually is. Shame he is such a girl, cos he has the bulk to be more imposing than he is.

Joe Cole still isn't fit, or else he just naturally puts his hands on his hips every chance he gets.

Kyriagkos is worse than I thought he was. He might be useful against the Stokes of the world, but not my first choice against the Sunray Caves.

I'll look at getting some photos up soon. Unfortunately my kids stole the camera and most of them are rubbish...

Agree with most of that, I actually think we should have gone for Roger Johnson instead of the greek, just signed for Wolves for £7 million, good value that.

SKY just saying Miereles picked up a knock in training and the only other non used player was Ayala, so that suggests to me Insua and Aurelio may not be in his plans?

did Hendo not travel because of his involvement in Internationals last month?
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

everyone seems to be saying that but I'm sure Comoli said that figure was wrong

depends what you read I guess, Eurosport said £16m as did many others so I'm inclined to believe that

One of my mates was driving into town from another city for the game. At the last minute his boss told him he had to attend a business dinner tonight (business dinners a big deal here). Sorry boss he said, I've already got a business dinner in Guangzhou. So, he had to take us all out for a banquet and put it on the company tab to keep his boss happy! Not a bad pre-game dinner...

Spot the guy in the Chelsea shirt "Take it off, take it off, take it off" the crowd are chanting.

Yep. As far as I know there is no dedicated football stadium here. A shame, but beggars can't be choosers. Just good to see the team, and take my wife and kids along.
