Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby ycsatbjywtbiastkamb » Fri Feb 02, 2024 8:11 am

imo this is our biggest game since the final match of that season when we were going for the quadruple,  in fact given Jurgen is leaving some may argue this is even bigger.
Don’t get me wrong this is not a title decider but it’s not far off it. Like the Chelsea game I feel if we are to win the title this is a game we must win
Guardiola will have earmarked this one down as a game where we may drop points, let’s disappoint him

I think you are right, it is deflating when your rival takes the points from a match you thought they won’t. Honestly there is a good chance we will have to win every match to win the title, if we can keep winning then City will inevitably drop points. If we drop points they will probably win all theirs. Arsenal will be sore about losing 2-0 last time and will have a point to prove. If we can play with the same intensity that we have been then we should win this comfortably, their open play suits us.

We need to start better than we did last time though mate, although we ran out comfortable winners in the end we could have easily been 3 or 4 down in the opening 20 minutes.
Bit of bad news re Darwin just breaking, apparently he’s a major doubt for Sunday (foot injury)

In terms of the race for the Prem title this will be a season defining game.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about this one. Obviously want the win but a 2-2 draw keeps popping up in my head along with some shitty ref/var decisions  :(

Darwin Núñez is an injury doubt for Liverpool’s trip to Arsenal on Sunday after Jürgen Klopp revealed the striker left Anfield on Wednesday night in a protective boot.

An x-ray has not revealed significant damage and the Uruguayan trained at the AXA training centre on Friday after Klopp had earlier suggested he may not be ready to play at the Emirates.“I don’t know if Darwin will be available or not because after 20 minutes [against Chelsea], someone stepped on his foot,” said Klopp.

Huge game. Win and we'll go 8 points clear which will put through pressure on city.

I do wonder if Klopp will bring Trent and Robbo back.

If we gain maximum it will be a massive statement. This ain't going to be easy though so I guess a draw won't be to bad but it will give City an upper hand.

Beating Arsenal at the Emirates is a big ask, even Man City lost over there earlier this season. But we're in good form so who knows, anything can happen.

Anyway, I'm really on the fence whether we should have Robbo and Trent start or keep Gomez and Bradley who have been great so far. I'm actually more for keeping things as they are, we're doing well with Bradley and Gomez, no reason to change things right now even against Arsenal IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bradley is given a rest, TAA starts then Bradley comes on for the final 20 minutes.  Same with Robbo/Gomez?

3 points from this would be a massive momentum.  :buttrock

Sadly the Echo is reporting Connor Bradley’s dad Joe passed away this morning,  he was only 58, apparently he had been ill for some time.
Devastated for the lad, losing a parent is one of the worst things anyone can go through and to have to go through that at 20 doesn’t bear thinking about
Thoughts are with the lad and his family
RIP Mr Bradley

Too bad the boy Bradley won't be available to keep Martinelli in his pocket.

Move Gomez into the RB and start Robbo? As Trent always had problems coping with Martinelli

Konate was so good against Martinelli with Trent allowed more freedom the last time we played. I’d stick with Gomez on the left and Trent on the right with Konate backing him up. Gomez looks much better on the left than he did on the right.

As for Bradley it is very sad and may his father RIP. I remember when my mother died ( similar age) I was in a fog the first few days, no way I could concentrate on anything. As I came to terms with it I then became very focused but it took a couple of weeks. I’d say he is probably going through the same process.

I don’t really care what happens against this lot of perennial failures. Winning 1-0 with an own goal in the 105th minute will do me
