Liverpool Football Club - Games

That was a good performance, Arsenal are no mugs at home. We've taken 4 points out of a possible 6 against the team that will probably go on to win the title. Thought Frimpong and Kherkez played well as well. Only negative was Connor, hope he's just twisted his knee and hasnt done his ligaments.

Proud to be a Red tonight. The lads played their hearts out. Virtually 90 minutes from every one of them and they were unlucky not to win. Our bad luck just continues. Last season injuries weren’t a problem. This season they have become a nightmare.

We played well tonight, could have maybe even won it had Frimpong hit at least one decent cross. His pace caused them problems but his final ball was terrible. Midfield was fantastic, especially Mac Allister finally had a great game I thought. Gakpo must be Slot's illegitimate child though, he was horrible (probably the only one that didn't perform well) but Slot never took him off.

Anyway, apart from City I think we've done alright against the better sides this season. We played well against Arsenal twice, Aston Villa, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Inter etc. That kinda gives me hope for our CL run.

Martinelli… What a c.unt! When Frimpong rolled his ankle, Arsenal kept playing even though he legitimately hurt himself whether a penalty or not. Then Martinelli gets shoved in the back by Frimpong in the second half and he takes a swan dive and grabs his leg faking injury and we played on while the Arsenal players complained like victims. The ref  only stopped play because Saka got a ball in the face (“head injury”  :glare: ). So I think the Martinelli thing had something to do with that. What a c.unt of a team Arsenal are and what a c.unt of a manager Arteta is. Can someone tell him when he wears such tight trousers not to bend over like he’s getting one up the rear…. It’s not a good look! As much as I hate City, I’d hate to see Arsenal win the league.

As for us, I thought we were much better in the second half and Arsenal were over matched. Missing Salah, Ekitike and Isak it was always going to be difficult to score against the clear best defense in the league, especially at the Emirates. Had we played with that intensity all season we would be way ahead of everyone. I’m not surprised he started Gakpo as there were no real other options, he’s big and strong and held the ball up relatively well. From a defensive point he was the best option. Ref was weak as he always seems to be against us but I’ve got used to it by now. We played like champions and hopefully gives the boys confidence to keep it up. I actually like the Bradley Frimpong “partnership” and without Bradly we may be weaker so I hope it’s not a serious injury.

We took a point, our defence was more secure than in recent games and we played with more confidence. Well done reds.

That said our formation made it crystal clear we weren't trying to actually win the game. Playing Gakpo as the only striker out on the left and Frimpong, a right back in a Mo role on the right isn't exactly inspiring.

We were short of Isak, Mo and Ekitike but we still had 2 strikers on the bench, Chiesa and young Rio. Arsenal used 5 substitutes to maintain their high pressure game, Slot used none until Bradley went off and Big Joe came on for 2 minutes at the end (and remained injury free...). WHY did Slot prefer to keep already spent players on the field when Arsenal threw FIVE fresh players onto the pitch and we had Robbo, Jones, Chiesa all mature first teamers capable of making immediate impacts.

The lads dug in and got a point but I saw ZERO imagination coming from the manager, he left it all to the side.

We had control in the second half but couldn’t score.

I get flashbacks of the last days of Rafa where half the fans turned on him and no matter the result the same people complained, which at the time I also thought it was unfair. After a ten year manager the last thing you need is switching managers every couple of years, we are not Chelsea or ManUre (would ManUre have found more success than they have seen had they stuck with Moyes?). Slot showed he could do it last year which means he can do it. Saying he did it with Klopp’s team is true but Klopp didn’t win with that team. The PL season is long and arduous and to win it means you have something about you. Slot defied the odds in Holland and he defied the odds in England and that is not easy to do.

Incredibly easy to criticise Reg. Let’s face it we all looked at the line ups before the match started and understandably thought we were going to have a very tough night. Slot has used substitutes with very limited success in the last couple of months. Considering how well we were playing in the second half I was delighted he didn’t change things. Hindsight is an exact science but in reality Slot achieved what virtually no other manager has at the Emirates this season by coming away with a point. Credit where credit is due.

Has anyone heard anything about Bradley. Hope he's okay. As someone else mentioned i quite like that R/H side.
Efficient without being spectacular is probably the best way to describe it, you're not going to get the goals and assists and indeed the moments the Mo/Trent partnership delivered but all the same it is half decent. Frimpong gets back and Connor gets forward so they help each other out, with us having a dodgy defence a young, energetic, hard working, honest partnership like that down our right hand side is just what the doctor ordered. Connors driving runs and Frimpongs pace does worry teams as well, not exactly prime Mo but defenders cant get their pipe and slippers out either, there is a threat there.
As good as Mo and Trent were lets not foget our rivals saw our right hand side particularly the space behind Trent as our Achilles Heel as well.

Out for the rest of the season mate. Damage to the bone and ligament so will need surgery.

I still can't see exactly how the injury was that bad, tbh. It looked fairly innocuous when he was in the air and then landed ok, or do I thought.
