IMHO Cisse will go to the world cup, probably score a couple of goals, and if France makes a good competition we'll receive a good offer for him and offload him. The summer is long.

That's what we hope happens, he could well end up being released on a free transfer if we can't offload him.

IMHO, Cisse will be here at least until January. Now that Nando's gone Rafa will or should have a replacment lined up. But I cant see Rafa running the risk of selling Cisse until the replacment of Nando is bought in, then he will have the commotion of the WC to work around. I just cant see Rafa rushing round like a blue arsed fly to sell two strikers and buy two, one maybe. He's very pedantic when it comes to buying players (right an all). Especially as Rafa isnt on the transfer budget like some of the other clubs, he cant afford to get it wrong when bringing players in. My guess is he will bide? his time for TWO strikers.

There is a quote in the book "A season on the brink" where Paco is telling us what Rafa thought of his squad when he first arrived and I think he was shocked at how basic Cisses reportoir of skills were. I think thre was one quote where Rafa had to show Cisse how to run to beat the offside trap.

The problem was not only his lack of generall technical skills but the fact that he had attribues in other areas like his pace which were above average. This clouded areas that were lackin in his game.

The other problem was that we had a manager whos ego was spiraling out of control and though anyone he bought would turn to gold. How wrong he was. I feel disgraced as a fan to think that Cisse is the most expensive player we have ever bought.

I hope one of 2 things at the world cup.

Cisse has a good world cup and someone takes an interest in him and buys him.

Cisse has a good world cup and imProves the areas of his game and does the business for Liverpool next season. However I dont know how much patience Rafa has left with Djibril or the fans for that matter.

He seems to play well for France and netted quite a few so far playing for Les Blues. Lets hope whatever happens, it is in the best interests of Liverpool FC.

Cisse: French trio want me

Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse claims three French clubs are chasing his signature.

The Frenchman revealed Lyon, Marseille and Paris Saint Germain are keeping tabs on him

Cisse's future at Anfield has been the subject of intense speculation for some time as he struggled to hold down a regular place in Rafa Benitez's plans.

Benitez is thought to be in the market for new strikers as his side struggled for goals last term and he has already offloaded Fernando Morientes to Valencia in a bid to raise some funds.

Cisse came close to leaving Liverpool last January before he eventually decided to stay on Merseyside.

The former Auxerre man has warned Liverpool he will not endure another frustrating season like last term and that he wants his future resolved before the World Cup finals get underway next month.

"I won't play another season like this with (Rafael) Benitez," Cisse told Football365.

"I want everything to be arranged before the World Cup, in order to be 100 percent focused on my football.

"I am in contact with PSG, Lyon and there is also a link with Olympique Marseille."

Looks like Cisse could move before the world cup, very encouraging, 2 strikers in and 2 strikers out before the world cup may be a realistic possibility.

the only snag is, if cisse has come out and said he wants to leave, that means the fee will go down.

Given the fact that we are going to take a big loss on him anyhow, this may be the time to check rather than fold if I may use poker parlence, and see exactly what the river holds before we decide.

but, to keep the poker analogy going mick, if you've got a bad hand and you're still throwing in chips in the hope that the river card comes good for you then you're already in serious trouble.

I don't understand this, I was under the impression that he really wanted to stay and that he was in love with the club.

I hope Rafa persuades him to stay.

Unsettled Cisse lays into Benitez

Striker Djibril Cisse says he feels unwanted by Liverpool coach Rafa Benitez and wants to join former Anfield boss Gerard Houllier at Lyon.

Cisse, training with the France World Cup squad at Clairefontaine, said: "Mr. Houllier signed me for Liverpool but I never had the chance to work with him.

"Now I have a coach who doesn't want me. Benitez doesn't use me, so I've taken a step back.

"I don't have the confidence of the coach; he doesn't like me."

Houllier helped bring Cisse to Liverpool from Auxerre but left the club shortly before the 24-year-old signed in July 2004.

And Cisse said he was even willing to take a pay cut to join Houllier at Lyon - either on loan or in a permanent move.

"Financially, you have to make some sacrifices and I'm ready to make them," he said.

"My heart leans to Marseille, but Lyon play in the Champions League and is a more stable club."

Cisse has scored 24 goals in 78 appearances for Liverpool, including a goal in the FA Cup final win over West Ham.

But he revealed Liverpool had blocked a move to Marseille last December. The striker was also linked with a switch to Tottenham in March.

"Liverpool refused to let me go. I got a lot of hate mail on my internet site from Marseille fans, because they thought it was my fault," he said.

"I just don't think I could stand another season like the one I've just had."

Well, the mate of Aiestaran that told me this rumour was right then (he told me that Rafa and the coach team didn't stand some attitudes of Cisse months ago). Next time he says something he'll have more credit from me.

It's obvious the main french teams will try to put the pressure on in order he's sold before the world cup. But, Benitez hasn't to be in a hurry, specially when there are several teams that pretend to buy the player (if he does a decent tournament it will be more). So I think we just should leave  Cissé making press statements, Rafa only has to ignore them and wait.
