Where should rafa strengthen next? - Not much money around

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby jordantoh » Tue Aug 17, 2004 5:27 am

where else should Rafa strengthen the squad?? The more important and needy places must be central defence and also another striker. We also need to add more quality and creativness to our midfield.

Any names come ups and is avaiable for the right price?

Colocinni is a good CD, but seems like Rafa has drop interest in him. I hope he goes for him, coz he will be a great partner for Hyypia.

Alonso is on the way and will form a great partnership with Gerrard. Nunez (hope) will be a good player on the right wing. I think we need another winger, SWP just sign a new contract n so he is out. We should go straight for Garcia. he is a very good winger and can score goals.

Mista for the replacement striker we might love to have.

What do you guys think?  :D

Definitely Right midfield. I think we can manage the CB position. But of course, if we have the money, we should get someone there as well.

At centre back we do need good cover, midfield should be thye main concern as we look a little light and 3rd on the list should be a striker.

All three posistions need to be sort as soon as possible.

Right midfield. We need someone with pace and flair.

A central defender with speed would be a great buy and a out and out attacking midfielder for the right hand side

We also need another striker as two wont be enough for the season

centre of defence is a suspect area and needs to be strengthened.

personally i would like to see a creative striker signed to complement Baros and Cisse who are out and goal scorers, also a versatile midfielder to increase competition for places in the side as well as to provide more options to the squad

Hyypia has been found wanting for pace over past 2 seasons. We need a CB with pace. Urgently.

I'd also love to have Pablo Aimar. We need more creativity in midfield.

I saw Colocinni played last night in an Olympic match of Argentina vs Australia, he was playing right back but was very impressive. He got pace, skill and calm in him. He is also very hard nosed as well. Last I heard was Real Madrid want to sign him but not sure where it stands now. I hope we can get him.

As I recall the Echo claimed earlier on this summer that we had about £26M to spend on the transfer market in addition to funds raised from sales. After Heskey, Murphy and Owen - exits we would have about £45M to spend. With Cissè, Josemi and Alonso in we would have spent btw £26M and £27M. Nunez didn`t cost us anything..
I obviously haven`t got insight into the Liverpool accounts, but anyways, if my recollection is correct, one would think that there are still a fair amount of money left to spend...
