What's with rafa? - It's getting embarrasing...

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

First with Real... now with Bayern...:O

Rafa stop saying those things whether you read it in the papers or you heard it or whatever...:D

Benitez 'flattered' by Bayern but staying put

Rafael Benitez is flattered to be linked with Bayern Munich but insists he plans to be at Liverpool for years to come.

Liverpool's Spanish manager will not be tempted to leave the Reds - whichever club comes knocking at his door.

Benitez told his club's official website: 'I heard about the rumours at the weekend, and it is always flattering to be linked with other big clubs - because it must mean you are doing something right.

'But even if I was approached I would tell whichever club it was that I am really happy with my club, my squad, my supporters and my city.

'There are still many things which I want to do here, so I am planning on being here for a long time.'

Benitez added he is not planning to buy Athletic Bilbao's promising 19-year-old Javi Martinez, contrary to reports in the Spanish press.

He added: 'He is a young player who we know about, because Bilbao paid good money for him.

'But we are not watching the player and are not thinking about signing him, as I have read in the Spanish press.'

Bayern deny Benitez was approached

BERLIN, Nov 20 (Reuters) - Bayern Munich will wait to hold talks with coach Ottmar Hitzfeld over the mid-season break before considering any other potential candidates for the post.

Hitzfeld's contract runs out at the end of the season but manager Uli Hoeness denied recent media suggestions that the club were courting Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez as a replacement.

'We've spoken neither to Liverpool nor to Benitez,' Hoeness said on Bayern's website.

'I'm a very good friend of Ottmar Hitzfeld and I've given him my word that he's the first person we'll talk to in the winter break.

'If our talks are successful, we'll have no need to talk to anyone else. If there's no result, we'll start thinking about another coach. But until we've talked to Ottmar in the winter break, you can take it there's nothing to any of the rumours.'

Hitzfeld returned for a second spell as Bayern coach towards the end of last season.

After a big investment in the squad the team have led the Bundesliga all season, although their form has dipped over the last month.

Hoeness also confirmed Bayern had told French defender Valerien Ismael he could leave the club after dropping out of Hitzfeld's plans.

'We've agreed to his request,' Hoeness said. 'If he finds a club, he can leave.'

I don't see a problem. He's stated that he is happy and plans to do a lot more here...what point are you trying to make?

it's tongue-in-cheek mate... i'm not concerned with anything...

it's just that whenver rafa speaks about some club approaching him or whatever the club denies... this one of course is not as bad as the real one but a similar incidence... :D

So...are you trying to say that Rafa intentionally likes to say that certain clubs are approaching him...maybe to look better as if he is a wanted man throughout Europe?

well... now that you've mentioned...  :D

no mate all i'm trying to say is that rafa should stop saying i'm flattered whenever there's a rumour in the media... i'm not saying he believes it... but when you say that and then the particular club says we're not interested in rafa then it's quite embarrassing... :D

But it wasn't the case of Real Madrid is it? The interest of Real Madrid was for real and Schuster wouldn't be there now if Rafa wanted to leave this club. And I guess Rafa answers to the questions of journos in the press conference, I don't think he just gets the micro and boasts about it  :D

if things do go wrong for us this would make it easy for him to leave, our club could just say that he has taken a good job offer back home.

Real & Bayern would both love him.

But they can both fuck off.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

I read the article yesterday morning on the bus on the way to work. He cant really state that he will be staying any clearer than that can he ?
The part you have highlighted says alot about the man and his affections for everything LFC. I was made up when i read it. The my city part really made his feelings clear.

I think legend is what the man will be here.....if he isnt already.

:D I laugh because the bloody Madrid journos translated ALL the "My"s but the last one. That is it was translated as, My supporters, My club, My squad, the city.

 They didn't like that bit apparently

A mate told me this last night. It's rich that the club that contacted Rafa in the first place just can't admit that they did contact him. Someone's a lying c*nt, and I don't think it's Rafa. Cheeky w@nkers anyway. They must think - like Madrid did before - that they are above us and can approach our manager when they see fit thinking they have better things to offer. F*ck off Bayern. You're below us in the pecking order and always will be. Same to Madrid: they too can get f*cked. And if Rafa told them to do one, what chance did Bayern think they had in the first place? Stupid c*nts. At least have the dignity to admit you got humbled.

I've been a bit frustrated with Rafa lately, but I read that article yesterday and thought "fucking get in!".
