DANIEL STURRIDGE- Official thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Has really impressed me so far. I really wasn't that excited about this signing, but Sturridge's style really does work.  He naturally moves the way he needs to fit in, and he is actually a really decent passer.

We'll see if he keeps this up, but if he does then that could be a huge signing for us.

This should convince a few people why Andy doesn't fit into this project.

daniel link up with suarez seems to be something special. the first person since ray kennedy to score 3 on his first 3 games.
he provides some much balance to the team in that defenders have to look up for him, thus freeing suarez.
his goal against norwich seems simple but i had seen kuyt, carroll and heskey missing simple tap in for us. so now we finally have a "fox in a box" since fowler.

Don't get too used to life without him, West Ham won't sign him I'm sure.

We should use him to get Diame but with a rumoured £3.5m release clause, probably a poor bit of business, maybe Diame and £15m but I doubt we would get that at the present time

Before buying Sturridge, non of our current players would have been there for that tap in - thats what he is going to bring here as well as very good link up play - and suddenly with that type of player Downing gets another assist - could just be an absolute masterstroke of a signing this!!!  :bowdown

So far Sturridge seems very promising. Finally we have a striker who has the instincts of a striker. He anticipates for the ball in the box, he is quick-minded, quick with his feet. He is fast, skillfull and relatively strong. He has a lot of confidence and a bit cocky. Sturridge has qualities which is severely lacking in Andy Carroll. I believe the purchase of Sturridge means that Andy Carroll's Liverpool career is over. If Suarez and Sturridge plays together more often, defenders will not know how to contain them. It's still early days and it can yet still go south but it sure looks promising...

i`m a fan of carroll but that diame is a brilliant player, if getting him meant a straight swap for carroll i`d say yes do it.
i think that diame is one of the best midfielders in the league, he`s built like ya ya toure but goes past players like a hazard or suarez.
he totally dominated our midfield when we played against west ham.

I'm not sure Diame is quite that good mate.  He had a brilliant couple of games, first against Chelsea and then against us the week after.  I've watched him on other occasions though and he can be hit and miss.  His first touch can be a bit dodgy.

He reminds me more of a Momo Sissoko or Abou Diaby type.  Big, strong and athletic but technically quite limited and probably not good enough overall if we're planning on being a passing side.
