Its a pity that Leon's well intentioned post has descended into more of a discussion about the size of thr FONT thean the content ???

Juventus will be welcomed with open arms at Anfield and I'm confidant that the club will deal with this sensitive issue with respect and dignity. A mosaic on thre KOP would be a fitting rememberance and build on the excellent relationship these 2 clubs have enjoyed since that tragic day ......

Walk on Juve .......

I'm in no doubt we,meaning the whole club collectively, will mark the occassion with some form of commemoration to the 39 victims.

I agree SS. People are commenting on the forthcoming fixture as if LFC and Juventus haven't spoken since the tragedy of Heysel but thats simply not true.

Both clubs have worked hard to forge strong and heart- felt links without being accused of forcing the issue.

A dignified, respectful and suitable commemoration will be fitting :)

I agree with both of you, but their will still be some Juve Ultras and older bitter Juve fans who have never forgiven Liverpool for Heysel and will be on the look out for our fans in Turin.

Great sentiment Dalgliesh. You are however talking about the great relationship between the clubs not necessarily the fans .

I've no doubt Juve (fans included) will get a great welcome from our lot but I seriously doubt that in the return leg we will be met with the same spirit . (and who could blame them).

I know....it's sad but I wouldn't be prepared to take that risk and go to Turin. The hour or so after the Roma final was bad enough and what happened outside Heysel waiting for our coach was pretty traumatic too.

If I refused to go to games where before hand there were threats against Liverpool fans I'd never go anywhere.

Without courting controversy here, it is HIGHLY unlikely to get involved in football violence unless you want to.

I agree it is most unlikely that you can get caught up in violence, but there are occassions and incidents beyond your own control that can put you in a very precarious position.

Its true that relations between the club have been ok since. Indeed Rush was sold (or at least a transfer agreed) to Juventus the following year.

Incidentally, has anybody got a copy of Rush's book on his spell in Italy? I read it years ago but it might be interesting to revisit now in light of the draw. It would be interesting to see whether Rush took any stick when he was at Juventus from the Ultras.
