The left side - Now a problem

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Can someone point me where to look or tell me when are expected Sissoko and Zenden in the team?

Could Pennant play in the left? While he's right footed I don't think he forgets about his left foot. Do you think this is possible at all? If Sissoko comes back soon we could play Gerrard on the right and have a decent side.

From www.physioroom.com:

B Zenden      knee                    13th Jan 07
M Sissoko     dislocated shoulder     22nd Feb 07
H Kewell septic arthritis            no return date

Nothing on Garcia or Mark yet.

Sissoko is aiming for the Derby game to return. Nice easy one then?!

I would have a look at Gareth Barry!! Plays his heart out for Villa, and a good solution to our left side.

St.Mich I have to agree with you on Aurelio, really good on the ball and could make a useful left midfielder for the upcoming games.

I think Riise should be employed at the left midfield, I don't know but I think he does better there than playing left back.

It is a problem, but I'm sure Rafa will stick playing aurelio upfront of riise.

Doesn't play on the left for Villa though, he plays in the middle.

Yes but his position is a left midfielder. He is left footed. whilst alot of people were crying out for him to play on the left for England.   :Oo:

I think that Lucas Neill is suddenly looking a very good potential signing.

Both Aurelio and Riise are fine as left mid as far as I'm concerned, so strengthening our options at the back will cover us pretty well.

Taking Riise and Aurelio out of the equation, this would leave us with the following alternatives...

Neill        Carra    Agger      Warnock
Finnan    Sami      Neill       Agger
Carra       Paletta                   Carra

Pretty good strength in depth there, and - as others have noted - Riise hasn't exactly set the world on fire at LB anyway if he was needed further up the park.

Aurelio hasnt impressed me much but he may now have a chance of a decent run in the side, to get his confidence up and to prove me wrong. With our injuries and if he's given the nod to play there he should take the opportunity.
