Had a great start despite the 3-0 loss to hull. Can't wait to see him play this season out on the flank, which ever one that might be! Could we finally have a real winger in the team?

Yeah he was great, he's gonna be very good for us we just need a high quality LB to link up with him.

Looked good to me though most of the team sucked. Will be a joy to have a real winger for a chance.

He's what we've been crying out for for ages. Gonna be a great acquisition.

Didn't see the game of the highlights but seems he was the shining light for us against Valencia which is great to hear. Doesn't sound like the other new signings (Adam and Henderson) were very good though.
Be interesting to see the starting XI for this Saturday!!

After Suarez he is our most skilled player. He is a real asset to the club.

as Ace is pointing with his rhetorical  question :D I don't think Stewart Downing is the flashiest player or the most skillful one, judging based on his Aston Villa performances and his performance against Valencia he has a similar style of play to Riera but can deliver a better cross and better final ball than Riera.

His skill on Saturday against Valencia was the ability to beat the fullback at will and deliver a quality ball.
