I've put this in the rumour thread but thought it might be fitting here as well

From the offal:

Is there still work to be done, though?

It's difficult to say. I'm sure there will be players going out because some players would like to play more and have more minutes. We will probably have a few loans as well, players who we would like them to develop, into the Championship or the leagues abroad. In terms of players coming in, it's difficult to say. I think we are going to sit down, look at the situation, see where we are, see who might leave and then we will reassess later. But we have done most of what we wanted to do.
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I suspect the football this season will equally reflect this, but not in terms of pragmatism but efficiency

Efficiancy being the pivotal word here

So we know where Poulsen, Jovanovic, Deggen etc. are going this year? Maybe even Sunday league...

I think they will concentrate on shipping a few out now, hope at some point we get a new defender.

Nope.

can't blame a guy for trying  :D

RAWK seem like happy bunnies anyway :buttrock

That lot would be happy if Kenny signed Titus B.loody Bramble, accusing those of blasphemy if they dare objected.

I mean, read ER's post's in this thread - it just goes to show, conform, become a sheep and leave your own mind at home, it's not wanted.

I know we're Red but I didn't realize it was communist Red.

F*ck off. It's got nothing to do with conforming. For once we've the money to spend and no bollox in the boardroom with a manager who knows us inside out, yet the moaning trollops on here still find a negative. He (Downing) hasn't kicked a f*cking ball for us yet, he or the other signings, yet they are still being written off as not good enough or overpriced. Arsenal offered 18 for him, we offered 2 million more and got him. About f*cking time we put our foot down when wanting a player. It was the same with Rafa. The signings he made - never good enough and overpriced. Give any signing at least half a season or a full season before opening yer gobs and at least get behind them.

Did you practice what you preached with owl face?

Or even Konchesky and Poulsen for that matter?

Well some are just too obvious they shouldn't be anywhere near our team...  :upside:

Perhaps, but the principal of the matter should still stand.

Note: If you desire inet friends go along to RAWK and copy what they say, that way you'll be liked.

Back on topic... Can't really say anymore than I've added, I've always seen Downing as average. But do agree he'll bring us some much needed width. Hopefully the lad can stand up to the occasion of wearing our red shirt as opposed to being a rabbit caught in the headlights.

He has looked average because he has played within very average teams. Never had much chance to really progress with a proper class squad.

Kenny will get the best out of him, he has done quite well in the games he has played for England, so it shows he has the quality. He ticks all the boxes for us I think.

The only nark is the fee, if you believe the press 20million is a lot of money, but English beef is at a premium these days.

But look at the wad we have spent 98 million on Suarez, Carroll, hendo and downing.

Nobody can doubt the commitment of the management now.

Now let's crack on with shipping out the dead wood and cutting that wage bill

Fingers crossed he can do the business and be a major player in our new look Liverpool team. Moneys big but if you reckon it all up we have forked out £50m on Downing, Adam, Carroll, Suarez ,Henderson and Doni which isnt bad business at all. 6 players for £50m is decent in anyones book surely. That Torres deal was the best thing we ever did really looking back and is proof to sides like Spurs that if you have an unhappy player, take the money, get shut and plough it back in to make your side better as a whole.

do you not find it ironic that a poster who wrote off every Roy signing before they arrived is now preaching to everyone that they have to give people time?

I think it's hilarious
