I thought soccer had Eleven players?  Or maybe I was thinking of NFL  :D

:D

There are eleven you bobo, look there is Ben, and Foster in the goal. :D

The rest of the players keep the triangle shape all the game.

How dare you switching Gerrard to another position, didn't you read what happened when Rafa moved Stevie to his current position? Have a read back then and have a laugh.

Gerrard at RB, do you want to kill newkitters of a heart attack?

:D

I personally don't like the idea too much, because I think the role you ask only would allow Gerrard being free and doing what he does best against lesser teams.

As for your line of don't believe on building teams around a player, I disagree. Players and players sinergies are more important than anything. If your preffered formation is a 4-4-2 but your players are for a 4-5-1, then fúcking change the philosophy.

Gerrard is the best player of England and I'd build the team around him. If one player like Barry is a bit worse than another like Lampard, but more compatible with Gerrard, I'd pick Barry for instance. It's not the amount of good names you enter in the starting eleven, it's how they work together.

What is Gerrard in the Gerrard role without a Torres in the Torres role?

There is no Torres in the Torres role for England

The best alternative of the nation for the role.

Pretty much the same if you asked the question for a traditional midfielder role, he'd be the best option.

I think Capello is a great manager and if he's given time he'll do important things with the current players in the WC. Capello won't be soft to the media and will end up giving Gerrard the importance he has.

It's a bit late to start doing that but better late than never.

I think Capello is on a power trip. First calling Stevie up when his club has already said he is injured and then calling up King again when his club has already said he was injured. What's his problem? :D

Gerrard's best position is as a natural CM, he is boss there, always has and always will be (Everton at Goodison for example) He is the type of player that tracks back, tackles, carries the ball forward and attacks, the modern box to box midfield and he is absolutely world class in that  department.

However, he is thriving in this new role as an AM behind Torres, scoring goals setting up his teammates and driving forward. Still, I miss some elements of his game that he uses when he plays as a midfielder that we also can use in some games, mostly the big games.

I dont think he actually has a best position!
He is world class in 3!He is fantastic in a flat 4 MF with a partner(say Xabi).Equally he is just as good on the right as the season he was put their proved. He is brilliant just off Torres as well, personally thats where Id keep him until the end of the season if we keep Xabi and Masch fit as him and Torres murder any defence and we need goals galore!

The thing is what you have in Gerrard is a fantastically gifted player technically added with one of the most intelligent footballing brains in the world,a passion for the shirt and a desire to win for personal satisfaction!
He just keeps getting better,Zidane was right!
He is the best player in the world!

When did I say it was his best position?  All I am saying is that its a legitimate point of view. One that people are free to disagree with. But NOT one to be tossed away like the ramblings of a senile old man with :no signs.  So far your only argument is to just say that I'm an ignorant American.  I'll admit my idea if on the fringe some, and that most people wont agree with it, but that should make your argument easier to make, and you shouldn't have to resort to things like go watch some NFL
