How weird would that be! Owen in a United shirt and RVN in a Liverpool shirt  :no

I have been (and remain) convinced that Owen will be back at Anfield in the summer.

I am concerned with the fact that Man Utd are sniffing about as they are fast movers in the transfer market. To have him snapped up by Man Utd when his 1st choice is clearly Liverpool would be hard to take. I can't see us making the same mistakes in the summer window as we have done in the last 2 transfer windows!! I think Rafa (as he has publicly said) will be pin pointing players already and we could see him make a few pre-world cup moves!! At least that's what I hope...

I just read Newcastle has put in a bid for Torres, where do they get the money from?
If its true then theres a good chance that Owen will be moving end of summer.

You'd get bl00dy good odds for that...mainly because it'll never happen. Way off the mark. Have you seen how many direct transfers have happened between us and the mancs. One or two, for a reason!

I know. But there's just a feeling I get with Benitez. He doesn't care where players come from, if they are the right players for the team, he'll go for them. I've had a feeling from the moment Owen put pen to paper for Tyneside, that at the end of the season, he'll transfer to Man Ure. This will ease the way for HorseFace to come to Anfield.

I don't know i have a feeling.............

Plus Owen had this to say:

Owen laughs off Gerrard plea
By Alex Livie

Newcastle striker Michael Owen has laughed off Steven Gerrard's plea for him to return to Liverpool, with the England marksman insisting he is happy on Tyneside.

Liverpool have struggled in front of goal this term and Anfield talisman Gerrard admitted over the weekend that he wanted Owen to come back to the club where he made his name.

Owen, who saw Liverpool miss out on his signature when he returned to England from Real Madrid in the summer, claims he is flattered by Gerrard's comments but has no intention of leaving Newcastle.

"Stevie has said they need a striker, or that they need to score more goals," Owen told the club's website.

"He's a good friend of mine, so I'd expect him to say `Michael Owen's a good player' because I'd say the same about him.

"It's nice of him to say what he thinks of me, but someone else makes those decisions.

"I'm happy here, as I've always said. I made a decision last summer to come here and I've loved every minute since."

Owen is currently recovering after breaking a bone in his foot in December and is hopeful of being available for selection in the near future.

"Hopefully, it's only a short period of time and I'll be back out there in the black and white," he added.

Newcastle United are reportedly ready to hand Michael Owen a new contract - amid rumours that Liverpool are not interested in landing their former player.

The England striker has been heavily linked with a return to Anfield, despite only arriving on Tyneside in the summer.

But the Sunday Sun claim that Liverpool officials have indicated they will not make a summer bid for Owen, currently sidelined with a broken foot.

Instead it is claimed that Owen will be offered a deal to keep him at the Toon for life - a bumper six-year contract which would take him to the age of 32.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well if he signs a new contract i guess that mean hes staying (isnt that we were syaing a few years ago). Then again he may put it off till the end of the world cup to see what offers he gets. Surely he doenst want to spend the rest of his career at Newcastle ? This is one of he best strikers in the world.

WTF is the Sunday S#n ?

Owen will not be at Newcastle next season...no way.
They are not going to be in Europe and Michael Owen cares more about things like that than money.

I wouldnt be surprised if he ended up at United, as it looks like RVR is being forced out.
There is no way in the world RVR will end up at Liverpool, when he leaves united it will not be to a Premiership rival...and definately not us (there fiercest rivals).
His wages would also be far too high, and he would command a decent transfer fee.
Not sure who we will get, but i dont think it will a name as big as Ronaldo or Van Nistelrooy.

I think Owen will be sick to death of the life at Newcastle. Starved of achievements, middle table mediocrity, poor milieu, etc. If he stays he'll probably have the same fate as Shearer. :censored: all trophies  . He has to come back, we want him back and i'm sure the feeling is mutual for MO. So please Michael...........come home. We love you

Doesnt Owen have to be very careful.  I mean Newcastle paid big money for him and kept his beloved World Cup dream alive.  Not to mention the big wages his getting.  Now if he at the end of the season demanded a move wouldnt that make him look pretty damn bad.  I'm sure if an expensive foriegn player that people would use words such as Mercenary.

He might be seen in that way, but i dont think he would care really.
He will put his career and what he thinks is better for himself and his family before the supporters of Newcastle.
He did with us and will again.

I would be shocked if he was still at St James's next season and fully expect a statement after the world cup stating that he needs to be playing Champions league/european football and thanking the Newcastle fans for being so wonderful during his time there.

As far as I know, from what Ive been told anything can happen regarding Michael Owen as now one of his clauses for Newcastle has  been broken, L'pool are still intrested in him joining them.  :)

As long as MO is not playig for Liverpool we will always be interested in him. Rafa refuted claims about him last year but they still bid for him.

I think the same will happend again tis year. What do you mean about his clause being broken ?

When Owen signed the contract for Newcastle there was 4 clauses made.  One of them has deffently been broken.  As far as I know Liverpool have still been having talks with Micheal Owen regarding coming back to Liverpool.

I think they put a certain amount in the clause for him to go to another club, whether Liverpool can pay that amount or would want to, is up to them if they could afford it.

At the end of the season he could leave Newcastle, as 1 of the clauses has been broken.
