ST. MIKE'S RUMOUR THREAD - All silly season rumours here please

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Paul C » Wed Jul 20, 2005 3:06 pm

From Echo:

With Crouch joining it now looks unlikely Michael Owen will make a return to Anfield from Real Madrid.

But one Galactico who could yet make the switch from the Bernabeu to Anfield is Luis Figo.

Inter officials today admitted they are unlikely to be able to put together the kind of financial package that would lure Figo to the San Siro, with Liverpool looking the only option for Real Madrid who have told the Portuguese international he can leave.

Well, I'm sure that whatever St. Mick does will be for the good of this forum, which is of course the best, most fantastic forum ever with the greatest moderators in the whole wide world, no, the universe.

This is on the site Talk-Soccer.net.

Liverpool chase 10m Cole?
It is speculated that Liverpool FC are set to add to their summer signings by grabbing the signiture of Joe Cole from Chelsea. Reds boss rafa benitez is looking to add an english touch to his cosmipolitan team and is looking to strengthen his midfield. Since the news of SWP move to chelsea has been made public Benitez has stepped up his move for the england international.

Cole who finally shown what he is capable with chelsea last season is rumoured to be unhappy after Jose Mourinho sees SWP as an important piece of chelsea jigsaw. although Mourinho has been quick to say that he wants to keep all four of his prized wingers, Cole is worried for his england place, with Arjen Robben seemingly untouchable and Duff highly rated by the former Porto manager, Cole feels the need to move to gain a place in Sven Goran Erikssons side for Germany 2006.

Chelsea signed coel for 6 million and would want at least double that to consider selling cole, but with the player unhappy and Benitez with a 10m warchest they may feel a cash offer is too good to turn down for someone who Mourinho has been critical of , in his time at chelsea. Either club have denied such rumours.

Why? T-Mac is mint

he left the Raptors because he didnt want to me a duo with his cousin, the guy is a ball hog. He is just as bad as Iverson and Labron James. U need a real player up there like Wade, or Duncan.

Duncan is a different player to McGrady, yeah ok he keeps the ball but thats because he's great at driving the lane or taking a shot.

Do you think the same of Vince Carter?  :(

he gave a few great years of his career, took toronto to the playoffs once. The whole saga was a bunch of :censored:, the two cousins jerked The Raptors around like a rag doll. Im glad to see carter is gone, its not a team when he plays. Its a show that people come to watch. This season im look forward to watching the team play. Carter is someone looking for more fame and more money, he is just trying to cash in.

Carter is the most overrated player in the NBA.  I don't know how he makes the All Star team every year.  T Mac better win soon, or he'll be the next Dominique Wilkins, and that's not an insult, because I'm a Hawks fan and I grew up watching Dominique.

Reports in Spain claim that Liverpool have submitted an offer for Sevilla's Brazilian defender Daniel Alves.

AS insist The Reds have bid around €10 million for the 22-year-old full-back who can also operate wide on the right of midfield.

Alves joined Sevilla in January of 2003 from Bahia in his native Brazil and has established himself as an important performer at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan over the past couple of seasons.

His displays have reportedly attracted the interest of Real Madrid and Juventus, but Sevilla have not been interesting in selling.

However, it seems that scenario might have changed following the news that Alves' compatriot Julio Baptista has decided to stay at the club.

The striker had seemed on the verge of joining Arsenal which would have meant Sevilla's quota of non-EU players being reduced to three.

They currently have four on their books, (Baptista, Alves, Adriano Correia and Luis Fabiano), but will only be able to play three when the season kicks off.

Alves is looking to gain Spanish citizenship and is hoping to have his request granted over the next few weeks which would also resolve the situation.

However, Sevilla could decide to cash in on the player rather than risk having to leave one of their Brazilian stars on the sidelines if the application fails.

AS claim Liverpool's €10 million offer has been rebuffed, but an improved bid could force the Primera outfit into a rethink.
