Houllier had some good signings.  :nod

and some bad ones.  :no

I think figo would bring some good experience to our squad, but like CIGGY said, he's 32 and playing in cold wet winter's nights in northern england might be a problem.

Babbel was class, easily my favorite Liverpool defender in recent years.  He was a big name and didn't fail to deliever, just a crying shame he got seriously ill and was never the same player again.

Milan Baros insists he wants to stay at Liverpool - but is likely to be offered as a makeweight to sign Deportivo defender Jorge Andrade.

The Czech Republic hitman is no longer needed at Anfield following the arrival of Peter Crouch from Southampton in a £7m deal this week.

The capture of Crouch has pushed Baros down to fourth in the striking pecking order, where he is also behind Spaniard Fernando Morientes and Frenchman Djibril Cisse.

But an area where Liverpool are not so strong is at centre-back, with Rafael Benitez looking to solve that problem before the big kick-off.

The Reds boss had targeted Real Zaragoza defender Gabriel Milito - but has been scared off by the £10m price tag on his head.

So now he has turned his attention to La Coruna, where he has been casting envious glances towards strong centre-back Andrade.

The Portuguese star would no doubt fancy a crack at playing in the English top-flight, having seen the success enjoyed by his countrymen Ricardo Carvalho and Paulo Ferreira at Chelsea.

But the future at Anfield looks bleak for Baros, who is likely to be offered to Deportivo as bait, and he said: "Of course it is not pleasant, but I am still a Liverpool player. I am working hard and I'm trying to persuade the coach that I deserve my place in the team.

"We will sit together with the coach and talk about his intentions with me.

"If he says he does not need me, then we will start solving the problem but nothing is happening now and I am not letting it play on my mind."

andrade obviously wants to play for us. hell, he's already scored for us when we beat deportivo 1-0 in last season's champions league. :D

It seems everyone says they want to play for us. How many players keep calling Liverpool a 'dream move' and then mysteriously say they're happy to stay where they are. After this Figo fiasco, I wont believe anything until I see a player wearing a Liverpool shirt.

Well you should had known before the Figo fiasco that nothing is certain in football. Like Rafa rescently said, "I believe that the player is here when I see him playing in training"

Exactly, but I am dissapointed in Figo cos for one he agreed a 'package' and also he was talking of a "Dream move to LFC" which turns out is now b0llocks  :(

I can't help believe their is more to his decission to stay there.

It's his loss.

Plus the preseason has gone alright so if figo stays at real, too bad for him.

He wont be playing for the European Champions.

It might be a silver lining in disguise. Better than having him here while his heart is not in it. I'm sure Rafa will have somebody lined up already. A decent player is needed until Mark Gonzo return.

Benitez probably has another RM in mind, I just wonder who it is.

Gallas would be a good signing for sure, excellent player who can play anywhere in the back 4.

Still need a right winger though IMo, Nunez is off and rightfully so, and Garcia, although he can fill in their it's not his favoured position.

Nunez got quite a few games last season, so we definitely need to bring another right sided player. I'm sure Rafa will sort it. :)
