Sissoko

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I knew he was good al Valencia but this is the type of player we have been missing. If he plays behind
Gerrard and Alonso then that could give Gerrad and Alonso all the chances they want to go forward and do pretty much anything they like.

Yes but im sure Hamman and Sissoko Rafa would prefer Sissoko. Hamman will only figure as a sub mostly this season, maybe in the lesser important comps.

still havent asnwered my question. in this statement, you clearly state that our team has lacked a defensive midfielder for a long time, which suggests that you have not seen hamann play.

liked the look of Sissoko last night, looked really accomplished. He is definitly a Hamman type player and would play easily with Xabi or gerrard and I hope on some occasions both....be interesting to see what formation Rafa plays next season and who plays where. Sissoko, Xabi AND Gerrard in the team? Not sure that could work....we'll see. I am very excited about the season kicking off in ernest!!!

An ok debut for sissoko last night.  He always seems to want the ball which is a good sign imo and shows he has confidence.  He is physically imposing and will win a lot of headers in midfield which we have possibly lacked in the past.  He put in a particularly crunching tackle on Ramelow which was good to see and shows he can mix it.

His passing however was poor imo and will need to improve.  I'm not going to judge this on one game though, I've seen him pass the ball better in the past for valencia, and I'm sure this can be worked on.  With alonso/gerrard/both alongside him, he doesn't need to be a great passer anyway, he has been bought as a ball-winner and I think he'll do a pretty good job at it.

Sissoko won La Ligo 2 years in a row with Rafa?

I dont think thats even a question.

yeah.........lets not get carried away.

remember we had the next ......

1)zidane -  cheryou
2)Marcel desiee (how u spell his name) - traore
3)the next viera - diao
4)the next abedi pele - diouf

viera is a world class player. If sissoko is half as good as him, i would be happy (ie....if he is premiership class player).

i watched sissoko at the weeekend, and judging by his small contribution, i feel with more games in the side he will settle in nicely. i dont see any major concerns as i have with the likes of Vignal and cheyrou when they first came to the side. so all in all, i believe it will be a productive season for us
