Owen

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Anfieldadorer, if Owen can't score in Spain, it is worse in Italy where the central defenders are experts at man marking. Heck, even the midfielders there are expert man markers! As I can remember watching Juve, only Del Poero and Trezeguet does not do any kind of defending at all...

Good luck to him if he goes there where chances are really at a premium and the strikers must have the ability to shake off defenders on their own (via dribbling, turning them or pace) and Owen only has pace which seem to be slowing down now.

have u seen owen lately for england?
theres dribbling and turning and movement and pace. i think owen could be a success wherever he went. juve would have a good player in him.
Madrid was just not the right move for owen i think. Hes not a galactico, hes a footballer. Hes more grass roots, give him the passion of italian football and a team of a non prima-donna chuck rattle out of pram players and he'll do good

i agree with that mostly, i think owen has the abilty to play in england, his style of play is so English and i dont believe he has what it takes to suceed in the more technical leagues of spain and italy

Congratulations to him on his first goal for Real. If they play 3 strikers again he may get quite a few more chances.

More goals for Owen at Real means more chance of Morientes moving on, which in turn means more chance of him coming to LFC

I'm also pleased for him on a personal level  :)

Owen scored his first goal today for Madrid.

Somebody said that Morientes stated that he would go to Monaco if he had to in January. I think Morientes has a hard time making up his mind.

surely he wouldn't want to gto to France over England?
although he's played at Monaco b4, I think the fact we have a spanish manager and several spanish players would help him fit in a lot quicker over here.

How can could fit a lot in quicker in England when he already adjusted to La Championat? But I see what you're saying.

I hope that he picks us over them.

no sorry I wrote that wrong I didn't mean to compare his adjustment into both leagues, I meant he would adjust to Liverpool quicker than he would at any other English club cos of the Spanish influence.
I think a player like him should be playing in one of the top leagues in the world and England is one of those, France although a good league isn't in England, Spain and Italy's calibre.

The English league is still a huge attraction to some of the top players in Europe. Certainly more so than the French league. But the Formby lifestyle for me doesn't quite compete with Monte Carlo!
