He may be "fit" for the Barca game BUT he surely won't be MATCH FIT .  I wouldn't give him more than a place on the bench (and i'd think twice about that )

I think we are definitly missing a FIT Harry. If he had played all season we would be a lot nearer to the mancs points wise now. Whether he can ever be the player he was at Leeds again is unlikely, but he is still our best option on the left when fit. He has a lot to prove when he returns but I believe he will do it.

Kewell has never reproduced his best Leeds United form Liverpool, never really attempted to track back in earnest and harry the opposition when we lose possession and never seemed to have recovered his ability to beat people with the ball at speed as he did often for Leeds. Woolf pointed out that he only made 121 appearnces for us since 2003. He also scored some spectacular goals for us and was a consistent performer last season after Rafa gave him so much time to recover and playing time to find his form.

Looking at the bigger picture and the personnel we have as an alternative to kewell, the obvious one is mark Gonzalez. mark Gonzalez always gives the ball away way too easily, can't beat a man to0 save his life and only has speed as his main asset. He seemed to have a decent left foot, a goal he scored from a freekick sweemed to indicate so. On the plus side, he has bags of enthusiasm, will run all day to prove to his manager that he should be a regular and does his fair share of tracking back. The only thing is he is so inconsistent, had not delivered anything noteworthy, apart from a late goal against Macabi Haifa and looks far from being "the best player in Chile".

From all of these perspectives, yes, I do miss Harry.

in 2005, harry kewell 'returned' in the carling cup final and 'returned' in the champions' league final

this season he wants to 'return' against barcelona

...im a big fan of harry but his comments are really beginning to :censored: me off. like the one about how because he's back in england now, he has more of a desire to get fit... he's been back since november. - what are u trying to tell us harry? did u enjoy ur holiday in australia? and why oh why is his missus updating us on his fitness before himself or lfc?! I can understand he may have been depressed thinking his career was over having 3 operations and all... but stay professional about it god damn it!
we've only won it 5 times

I feel dissapointed that he declares himself fit or aims to be fit by these big ghames (finals, games against barca etc) you think he'd come out and say he'll be fit to say play pompey away? some reason i dont

someone above mentioned putting himself in the shop window by playing? surely thats a good thing for us if rafa were considering selling. and also means he'l hopefully get his thumb out for once

Can't find a link guys, but Rafa's just been on the radio, saying that Kewell and Leto are his preferred options on the left side of midfield next year.

Harry's staying. Made up, you were right S@int.

I bet he gets injured playing for Australia this summer and plays very little next year. Will end up going on a free when his contract runs out..

Kewell determined to prove worth to Benitez
By JOHN EDWARDS - More by this author »

Last updated at 22:29pm on 29th May 2007

Harry Kewell is determined to salvage his Liverpool future and convince Rafa Benitez he can emerge as a key factor in a renewed title challenge next season.

With Benitez promising widespread changes during the summer, and admitting an interest in Lyon winger Florent Malouda and Benfica's Simao Sabrosa, Kewell's Anfield days looked numbered following a season wrecked by injury.

But the 28-year old Australia winger, who has just 12 months left on his contract, is in no mood to be forced out after finally regaining full fitness and playing a part in the last Premiership game against Charlton and the Champions League final against AC Milan.

Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Ham are all eager to offer him a fresh start, but may have their hopes dashed by his steadfast belief that any move away from Anfield would be a step down.

Though Benitez is believed to be ready to listen to offers for him, Kewell has yet to be told his time is up at Anfield and is clinging to the hope that he may yet be given the chance to show what he is capable of when free of injury.

"Anfield is the only place Harry wants to be," said a close friend. "He takes the view that there aren't many players who can say they are good enough to pull on a Liverpool shirt.

"He believes he is, and he wants to prove it to the fans and manager. He is not one to shy away from a challenge."

          -----------------------------------------------

I hope he is given the chance, we wouldn't get much for him now in any case. He would certainly be better than anything we have on the left if he manages to stay fit.

i hope he stays....even if we buy malouda or whoever for a left wing, i'd satill like to see harry competing for that spot! who knows, he may even play himself into first choice LM even with a new signing. definitely feel we'll benefit more by keeping him than selling him! i belive rafa rates him as well, as can be seen after starting him in the 05 final wen doubtful as well as getting him on in this yrs final! idefo think he would having started a fit kewell!

I'm actually fed up with the kewell situation, but since he now only has 1 year left on his contract he might as well stay.

But for 4 years I've been hearing the same ****.

"Next season when Kewell is fit he will show his class"
or
"You just wait, once he gets going he will get back to the form he had in Leeds"
or
"Give the lad a chance, he will come good"
or
"Even if he only had 3 goals this season he still is great and gives us so much"

Allow me to be sceptical about Kewell, but since he rarely features for us I could care less and hope we bring in a class LW we can rely on.
