To be honest I think it could actually prove to be a bit of a bonus if it pis....ses them off a touch in the process. A bit of pressure or a few words in the right ear from Standard Chartered might just help things along. That seems a bit lost on some of you? The shirt by itself gives you a bit of media coverage but that is about it. Do you honestly think the sponsors are gonna simply pull the plug on the whole deal because of a few shirts? really can't see it myself. and let's say they do kick up a bit of a fuss, it'll grab some PROPER headlines, could drive the price down a touch, and perhaps we'll have some new owners in a little sooner.

i take your point, scott, and i have thought about it. my reaction to the shirts isn't the non-thinking knee-jerk type that's so fashionable on the boards these days.

to be honest i don't give much of a damn about standard chartered or their feelings, but i'm pretty sure they'll have something to say about how their logo and their image is being used. i don't think they'll go as far as pulling the plug in all seriousness but being a money driven faceless multinational corporation i don't think they'll take it lightly either. maybe they will have a few words in the ear of the owners and try and persuade them to play nice but i'm not too sure they'll work like that. maybe it'll generate a few more column inches but i fear that journalists will just interpret it in the same way that us shirt-doubters have (and there's a nice new pigeon hole for the forum to use).

on the other hand it might just work, i have serious doubts, but it might. i'm open to and hoping for that outcome. on the other hand i don't know what the worse that could happen is either, but i am fairly sure that upsetting the best, in financial terms, sponsors we've ever had is not the best way to have a go at the owners.

anyway, i'm out of this argument/discussion now. most people have had their say and i don't want to contribute to deepening any rifts. best of luck to all those who made the shirt, buy the shirt and wear the shirt - i truly hope it has the desired effect despite my reservations.

its a lovely weekend, i'm off camping.

Great idea, poory executed.. would have been much better in a better colour to stand out for the tv cameras and also should just have said Yanks Out on the front instead of havving a pop at the sponsers .
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Just like burning the flag, this is just going to upset the wrong side.
anyway the shirt might be a waste of money as the club still might be sold before the start of the season....and we should point out that the owners have no say in how the club spends money and have no control over the books.

the only thing they still have a say in is who they sell the club to and for how much and it even seem that they are now being told what to do there.

yeah Lakes we keep hearing all the time that they no longer have control over this and that, but the one thing they do have control over is the one thing thats stopping us from being sold.

im with AndyG, fiveups and Ace on this one. poorly executed though the idea was there. if Standard Chartered brings this to court, i wont be surprised......im sure SOS wont be short of lawyers though.

Law Lords: the defendants are being charged under the Trademark Act
SOS: who gives a f@rk!?
Law Lords: have you got anything to say in your defense?
SOS: seriously this court if full of narky b@stards. this place is turning into TLW.
Law Lords: please mind your language
SOS: f@rk off you lot!

order, order

Mr Maypax

yes m,lord

for a start its got nothing to do with SOS but it has got a lot to do with people being royaly pi$$ed off with the way thing are at the club, so if you find yourself back in my court one day you might want to get your facts right before opening your grid.

but m,lord im sure the evil SOS are behind this,

order, order

please remove this man

case closed.

Bang out of line posting that mate.  This is a new low for you, I can't believe you'd try to get Big Mick banned by posting New Zealand porn in a thread , waiting for his response  :p

ahh yeah its a project by those on RAWK. my bad there. but the point im trying to make (which im sure has been repeated many times only to receive a flurry of expletives) is, to anyone who isnt a liverpool fan and has no clue as to what is going on, it does look as if its a protest against the sponsors.

now you may go on and say it doesnt matter bla bla, generated more attention bla bla. but what if SC decides to press charges?

This is the point that needs to be understood.  The thought behind the shirt is very well placed, but the reception of it may not be taken in the way that it is intended.

Forget about people who arent Liverpool fans and people who dont know anything about whats going on...
Im a fan and i know all about the ownership situation and i still have no doubt that having the sponsors logo up there with that little dig was certainly no simple cosmetic addition to a protest shirt against the owners...
Spin it however you want but end of the day the shirt is every bit against the sponsors as it is against the owners which to me doesnt make much sense... If you are seriously going after the sources of income for the CLUB, then how the fck is that supposed to help bring investments or bids to the club ?
End of the day whether you like it or not, Robin Hood wont be buying the club. In all likelihood, we'll have someone bidding who wants to make money out of the club and p!ssing the best sponsors out there surely wont do much to help the cause.
As i said, protesting against the owners in any way isnt a bad concept per se, but doing so in such a miscalculated and naive way will most likely come back to bite us in the @ss...
Hope it doesnt though, and best of luck to those who have their hearts in the right place..
