1) Finnan by a mile

2) Mascherano what a player he can not only do everything Didi use to do but the lad hardly ever miss places a pass.   Very unfortunate to get booked when quite clearly he won the ball.

3) I cant pick a third this game as everyone else perfomed on par for me.

Finnan (two quality assists...who says he can't get forward?)

Gerrard (a good all-round performance and a vital goal to stop the game from receding into the 0-0 doldrums)

Mascherano (great movement and a lovely ball to Finnan to set up the vital first goal)

3---- Finnan
2---- Mascherano
1---- Gerrard

The Standings of the last game are already available (upper) Since it was the first game there's no need for a General Standings table.

Keep voting please!, the more votes we get, the better will be captured the credit the players receive in this forum.

I'll edit this post to put the first standings. Won't be a very interesting the first round, but normally there's more variety of opinions and it gets interesting..

Thank you for your votes. :)

*************LIVERPOOL FC  - PSV EINDHOVEN points after this post.*********************

it seems that the total standings are going to depend more on having a big game when more people post rather than who is actually playing the best on a consistant basis.  Is there any way to make each game out of 100, 50, or 10 points to be divided between the players based on the percentage of total points that they get per week. Also you could have european matches worth more as well as matches against Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea.  Unless you think that the amount of posters for each week will be about the same with possibly more posting going on during the bigger matches.

20 people posted for the Arsenal game for a toal of 120 points that would seem to be a good standard but 100 might be easier.
Arsenal match on a 100 scale would be (adds up to 101)
Crouch 49
Aurelio 27
Mascherano 17
Pennant 7
Arbeloa 1

For the PSV match only 13 people have posted so far for a total of 77 points (which doesnt match i know)
Finnan 29
Mascherano 28
Stevie 18
Crouch 1
Alonso 1
to convert it to a 100 standard would be (only adds up to 99 cuz of rounding)
Finnan 38
Masch 36
Gerrard 23
Crouch 1
ALonso 1

Well Joe Terp, thank you for  your comment, it's a well thought one.

I did this  thinking of the next season and this kind of criticism is what I need to find a method that suits the forum best. I for one wouldn't care taking that method, but further views of other posters are also welcome. If others agree, let's change it!! :)

Thanks again, keep giving points and comments like that.

Against PSV it was Finnan, then Gerrard, then Mascherano for me. Also, Joe's idea is absolutely spot on. Kuyt could get the winner in the dying seconds of the Champions League final and recieve 350 votes, making him the forum player of the year. This would be bad enough but imagine if Zenden scored it? Feck me Peewee wouldn't be the only one who was off if we gave Bolo player of the year.

Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

 @ Zenden comment.

Ok, to be honest for some reason that only maths could explain when weeks go on this first method works in the long term.

But, the maths also tell that Joe's method is more accurate and better than mine, so I don't have troubles to change it!! :)

the other issue to consider is whether or not to weight the more important games or not and by how much. thoughts.  Also I think I have an insomnia problem because its 4:45 in the morning and I am wide awake thinking about player rankings :D

Some of my best ideas in my whole life came at 4am in the morning, sometimes in a pub, so don't worry.

I personally wouldn't give more weight to important games, because a game is a game in terms of how a player is performing. Plus it's against one of my favourite rules, keep it simple. But I'm also open minded to your views. :)
