Barcelona managed to get more capacity by dropping the pitch. Don't know if you've ever been to the Nou Camp but they seem to have done well. From the outside you wouldn't expect whats inside.

One thing to note. If we increase Anfield's capacity by 15k, it's still not enough. Regular seats don't make big bucks. We need more corporate seats to make big money a la Arsenal. We most likely can't provide that at Anfield.

We need 60k seats. 10k of those to be 'corporate' so they can rake in the cash.

it is not that easy to sell those corporate seats in a city that is not london. actually i think u could never sell that many corporate seats in liverpool. even 5k could be hard.

You couldnt drop the pitch, the first row of seats are already on the limit of closeness. If there was a running track to sacrifice then yes, you'd be right.

ACEESS to the immediate stadium vacinity is the problem hence teh need to go to the park.

I don't mind which they go, so long as any development respects the traditions of the club and results in increased capacity. Redeveloping Anfield would presumably save a few quid but wouldn't appear to be feasible not least because of the "access" problem. If that was possible to overcome, then would redeveloping Anfield necessitate a temporary ground share while the work took place, or would it simply mean a temporarily reduced capacity - and how might that affect us? Anyone know how they did it at Fenway, or any other (recent) ground for that matter?

I'm also very sceptical about corporate seats for us. I doubt we can fill nearly as many as some London teams can.

I will probably be by myself when I say this but a groundshare where we own the stadium would probably be best for everyone. Imagine teasing the bitters about playing in our stadium. We would in that way get a massive stadium that on certain matchdays be filled up to 75-80k. This way the club could reap the benefits of renting it out on certain occassions also.

Dont forget that ticket prices will anyhow go up a lot and the more seats to offset the investment the better it is.

If (and it won't) that were to happen the Bitters would just trash the stadium every week so it'd probably cost us as much in repairs.

New stadium for me. Arsenal are making so much money from the development of the old Highbury site and Liverpool need to do the same, but they must move to a new stadium. It is the fans that make the atmosphere.
