Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

We need to be much more precise with they type of player we buy and I think Klopp will be very particular about who comes in. Under FSG, ive felt as though we've had a scatter gun approach. Sign a load of players that look like they've got potential and hope a couple bloom into the real deal. Just seems bit of a Russian roulette way to go about it

I would be majorly surprised if our transfer dealings will change as long as they are they owners, no matter who the manager is.
It will mostly be young prospects coming in. My biggest gripe is that if one of them turns out to be great, they just sell them for a profit.
And around we go without any progress....

If you combine that with the fact that our 2 most expensive signings in history has been Carroll and Benteke, you get extremely sad...

Sorry for posting this rumor again, but I am reading elsewhere that there are now 2 bids on the table for the club

1 from China and 1 from the middle east

I know these rumors keep popping up and some find it annoying etc... but seems momentum is building

Cannot understand why we would want to sell now, what with new stand etc..

Expect to see more in the papers this week

These takeover rumours always pop up every few months but usually there is nothing in them. Not convinced FSG are willing sellers as it stands.

Unless they get offered an amount which is way too good to turn down, I don't think they are going anywhere anytime soon, especially with the money being poured into the game.

I'd read the other day that the club was now worth 540 million which is over twice what FSG paid to purchase the club almost 6 years ago. They are an investment group after all so maybe they feel its time to cash out for the right offer.

I know they are just rumours but it wouldn't bother me if they did sell and we got someone with bigger pockets.  :nod

I'd be suprised to see FSG selling up to be honest with the new stadium, the big money for the TV rights and obviously all the merchandise we sell...FSG can make alot of profit in the next two years from us and still get the £700m when they please.

Chinese would need to cover FSG potential profit over next few years in the price.

There will be a number where FSG will be willing to walk away and perhaps this is the start of a process with the opening bid.

As I stated a couple of days back this has now hit the papers, including a leaked letter

The offer was from a Chinese 'state backed' organization who valued us at 700 million pounds

They first put the offer in back in February but are believed to be back at the table

There' s no way I'd want random Chinese-owners anywhere near our club. Even less so 'state backed'....I mean, really? Does anyone think they'd have our club's best interests at heart?

The idea of investment in the club is great, but I'm not convinced that SinoFortone as owners would run the club any better than FSG.

The thing with FSG is that their pockets aren't as deep as LFC fans would like, but they are specialists in running sporting franchises, which IMO may prove its worth in gold in the mid-long term.

One thing is for sure, we would be able to compete on all fronts if we were taken over by the chinese. However there is something very cold and plastic about doing a 'city or chelsea' and goes against what we are about as a club but we have tour move on if we want to progress

FSG have come out VERY quickly to deny any bid from the Chinese (check Liverpool Echo - sorry can't link on phone)

But they do go on to say that they are open to investment

I could see them selling stakes in the club (like Arsenal) whilst retaining control of the club. 10% here or 20% there. But would be shocked if they sold up, given the investment and debts they've written off.

No Chinese please.... we're culturally too far apart.

My biggest concern with such an unknown entity is what if they got into financial difficulty, would be their exit strategy? I could imagine  this turnig into another Gillette and Hicks.

Arab owners are more aligned, we have greater experience of each other, but please, not Chinese. It doesn't make sense from any angle.
