Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ciggy » Sat Aug 20, 2005 2:11 pm

Liverpool - Reina, Warnock, Finnan, Hyypia, Carragher, Gerrard, Sissoko, Alonso, Cisse, Morientes, Zenden. Subs - Carson, Josemi, Garcia, Baros, Risse.

I am very suprised riise is a sub again, maybe there was some truth in St micks story, Cisse on the wing again  :(

good team but rafas starting to p!ss me off now playing cisse on the wing. i was watching phil thompson on sky sports and he was saying he believes that cisse isnt in rafas long term plans with choosing morientes ahead of him and constantly playing him on the wing when you need a pacey player up front when playing 4-5-1. hope this doesnt continue and its a bad decision to play him there when hes the person we need to score the goals and not an out of form moro.

Not really surprised Riise was left out, Warnock is playing too well to be dropped and I think Rafa is gonna give Zenden a fair few games to prove himself.

Surprised we're playing 3 in centre-mid again, very surprised.  Especially since we're at home to possibly the worst side in the division

I just wonder if Rafa will spring another surprise by playing Gerrard on the right in a 442:

                               Reina

Finnan              Carra        Hyypia            Warnock

Gerrard          Sissoko       Alonso             Zenden

                     Cisse        Morientes

It's quite a versatile starting 11, we'll start with the same formation as last week probably and I wouldn't be surprised if we switched to the above for chunks of the game.

Morientes cannot play upfront on his own, and he got no service for the first half last week, and how many times was he upfront on his own last season? Roll on next week to get a winger signed, f*ckin sick of Cisse on the wing.

No, but he has played there several times for Valencia.  Not his best position, but it's a possibility...

Out of all the players we have, Gerrard would be the one best equipped to be effective on the right.  But I don't think we can justify playing him there all the time when he is also the best player we have for the middle.

Cisse will start on the right, and if we are struggling to score, then he'll go up front with Morientes and Gerrard will have a go down the right.

Hope we play like this:

               Reina

Finnan Hyypia Carragher Warnock

Gerrard Alonso Sissoko Zenden

          Cisse Morientes

But I think it is more likely Cisse will play on the right and Gerrard of Nando.
