Spirit Of Shankly EGM - Saturday 25th September
Saturday 4th September 2010

The Spirit of Shankly, Liverpool Supporters Union, are holding their latest EGM at Zelig's in Liverpool One, Liverpool on Saturday 25th September 2010 starting at 11.45am. This is the day of the home game against Sunderland. We are looking to have the meeting finished no later than 1.30pm.

We are planning to stream the meeting on a delayed basis and as such we will be looking to allow the whole membership (rather than just those attending) to hear the discussions and debates and to vote on the resolutions put before the meeting.

The meeting will update members on a number of key issues - mainly supporter ownership, the Share LiverpoolFC agreement (which will need to be ratified by members), new branches and any information we have about the sale process. In addition members can add items to the agenda that will be sent out shortly.

Please make every effort to attend - any additional items to be considered for the agenda should be sent to secretary@spiritofshankly.com.

Here's the details of the scouser tommy sos branch . It's an online branch set by fans who live far and wide and wanted more of an input into the union .

Scouser Tommy Branch

Overview
The Spirit of Shankly Scouser Tommy Branch grew out of the Scouser Tommy LFC fans forum, with members drawn from all over the world – from L4 to Europe and as far afield as Australia, Japan and the US.

The diversity of our members is a reflection of our club’s truly global fanbase and, as a result, 99% of the Branch’s business is carried out online. Again, this is in keeping with the way a significant proportion of LFC fans interact – via the many reputable and free LFC fan forums.

In essence, our remit as a Branch is:

    * To support the union in pursuit of its stated aims
    * To fulfil the primary purpose of SOS Branches by encouraging LFC fans to join the union in greater numbers. Since our inception, our membership has grown by 50% and counting
    * To provide a sounding board for the union when a global cross section of supporter opinion is needed
    * To work with other respected fans forums worldwide, encouraging them to follow suit in setting up SOS Branches. As the first internet-based Branch we can provide help and assistance based on our own experience, so feel free to get in touch.

Chair, Kevin Reavey said: “It’s all very well saying ‘the fans are the club’. But if we want to safeguard our club’s future, no matter who owns the bricks and mortar, we must unite behind a common cause and speak with one voice. That is what forming and being part of a Branch is all about."

Chair Kevin Reavey

The EGM Agenda will be out early next week.

It will contain the resolutions being put before the meeting, notification of Share Liverpool representatives who will come and speak and also solid news about the Credit Union.

Additionally there will be the opportunity for a full debate about the ownership issue, an update on what the Union can say about the sale process and views on protests and boycotts.

Important meeting and lots of information to be shared.

Zelig's, Liverpool One 11.45am 25th September.

Spirit of Shankly opens Ireland Branch
Tuesday 22nd March 2011

The Spirit of Shankly are pleased to announce that their eighth branch has been officially ratified and opened in Ireland.

The Branch which will be one of the biggest that the Union has is now open for new members and a first meeting is currently being arranged.

New Branch Secretary Frank Egan said "Ireland and Liverpool have always had a special bond, and none greater than that felt by Irish supporters of Liverpool Football Club. Our members are delighted to have the opportunity to support and contribute to the Union, and aspire to help it achieve its goals going forward. We hope that Irish supporters will join us and Spirit of Shankly in serving the club’s best interests."

Anyone wishing to join or find out more about the Branch and its activities are asked to email Ireland@spiritofshankly.com

The Union’s new website which is likely to be launched before May, will give all members of the Union the opportunity to join an existing Branch by updating their own profiles. This will see them receive branch updates and specifically tailored information about the Union and its Branch activities.

Peter Hooton, Union Committee member said "There remain a huge number of issues and challenges that face the Club in both the short, medium and long term and branches will have a massive role to play in reflecting supporters' views of what is best for the Club going forward.

The increase in the Union's Branch structure and membership will continue to impress upon the Club that engagement with supporters can not only be limited to appointed supporters' committees but that democratically elected and accountable supporters from  all over the world have an equal role to play.

Best wishes to our new Ireland Branch and its members".

You know what mate, if its in a decent place and I'm around and have time, I would love to.
But not now I guess, just need to settle down somewhere. If you have any news on expats or Arabs planning on opening a branch in ME let me know.

New Spirit Of Shankly Branches
Monday 13th December 2010

The Union is delighted to confirm the establishment of its two newest branches in the US and Finland.

Connie Lofton, chair pro tem of the SOS New York branch, commented  'It is an honour to establish the first U.S. branch of Spirit of Shankly and we look forward to spreading the Union's message to a growing and passionate support base here in the States.  Despite the recent change of ownership, we know the Union's work is far from done, and SOS New York plans to do whatever it can to assist the Union in achieving all of its aims.

The New York branch is open to all SOS members in the United States but will mention there are currently plans underway for formation of a West Coast U.S. branch - we also hope that demand will spark other U.S. regional branches to form.  We want to foster and encourage a "hands-on" (rather than long distance) relationship amongst branch members to the extent possible while also underlining the fact that all are welcome.'

If you are interested in joining the New York branch (or have an interest in forming a U.S. regional branch), please contact: newyork@spiritofshankly.com."
