I can't wait for Gerrard to go

true Roberts, but if he wants to leave then we have to get the best deal possible, not only in terms of cash but in terms of strengthening the opposition etc, by that i mean selling to Chelsea would be a bad move rather than an overseas club who we could meet in the CL, but selling or best player to a direct rival in our own league would be silly unelss they offered us a massive fee that we couldn't possibly refuse.

I hope Gerrard sats, but if he decides to explore pastures new then we must try and get the best deal possibe na use the funds to build the team for the future without him.

No player is bigger than the club, he may be somewhat "irreplacable" but if we can get a very good fee then we can certainly buy the players necessary to carry on without him.

I ve always thought that it makes more sense for your best player NOT to be the captain of the team.  I would have Jamie C as our captain, take some pressure of Gerrard but also have someone to tell Stevie to stop sulking and get on with it... which he sometimes needs.  JC is the natural choice, a local lad, with loads of passion, the extra responsibility would probably help him raise his game even further as well
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

I am not too sure about keane being better than gerrard at the moment, or ever will be, he's defo on the decline and SG is on the ascendency. However, if we are talking about pure captaincy, SG is way behind. Keane has his way of captaining a side, kudos to him despite him being a scum.

Captaincy is not about threatening to quit, shaking heads when the chips are down, or doing two men's job on the pitch. It's about wearing different hats at the right time, more hats than the royal ascot, it's about getting the best out of others, whether it's by barking or cajoling. If the head is getting too huge for the hat, then it's a totally different matter... :kungfu:

Wouldn't wanna see him go though.

keane is on the decline but in terms of "football intelligence" he's still way ahead of stevie g. the recent game at anfield was proof of this. keane knows that he can't hurtle around like he used to, but the was his makes the most of his physical limitations is top class. i thnk he's got the highest pass completion in the premiership this season because he always keeps it simple. gerrard's desire for the spectacular is still too great.

the thing is i have had my doubts about gerard for a long time and even predicted long ago to mates that he will try and leave.long before it was clear to the rest of you that houlier was not good enough and long before owen even hinted he might leave.he never talks about loving liverpool only mentions that he's a fan ,well i'm a fan of teams in spain but i don't love these teams even rooney before he ran of to manu rattled on about being a true evertonian at heart.this guy wanted to leave long ago and was bribed with the captaincy to stay and even with that he still wants to go.gerard might score 7-8 great strikes a season but to me he can't dominate a game like a graham sounes   ,if gerard has been so outstanding how come he aint  won player of the year  yet.  i think gerard should go take his 7 great strikes a season to chelsea where other players will win them things only for him to take all the credit.but while he's at liverpool where we are doing nothing and its clear for all to see them 7 greats strikes are not enough.don't get me wrong i'm not saying gerard is rubish :kungfu:

He only stay when Liverpool is a successful club, and he will go if Liverpool is not winning any cup or not qualifiers in CL and of courses, the club must improved. That’s means if this season we win that 4th place but next season Liverpool must win that 3rd or 2nd spot.

He’s a world-class player. If Liverpool willing to let him go, his replacement must be a world-class player too in fact must better than him if not we are back to square one.

Look at SG ‘s face, when Nando score a goal in our last match. Tell me what you see. I tell you what I see. I see the face that wants to stay and success with his only club and that club is Liverpool FC.
