Gees mate and to think I moan about my arthritic finger and a few aches and pains! Your experience certainly hits home. The head is a bit of a b.ugger to say the least. I'm sure you're getting professional help to overcome the mental anguish caused by what must have been an incredibly frightening experience. Send me a PM if you need the recommendation of an extremely skilled counsellor who takes a slightly different approach.

If you haven't been to Oz before then it's certainly a great place to get you back on the road to positive thinking and a full recovery. They have a great outdoor lifestyle and a fantastic attitude to life. No worries is their catchphrase and they live by it. Spending some time there could be as beneficial as sitting in a private room going over your experience with a stranger.

Great to hear that physically you are going in the right direction. Good luck in the future.

I been making steady progress, but I have been getting confused quite a bit. Was put down to the medication am on. 420 tablets a month!! Got to have some effects. Also have good days, and Boy I feel good, then the bad days. Try to put them out of my head and stay POSITIVE, Today my GP told me after many tests and a lot of research etc. The NHS are really amazing. Told me and I s.hit it when my GP held my hand and said there's something I have to tell you. I thought he was going say ,you have 3 months to live, they found out you have slight brain damage due to oxygen deprevation. He asked if am ok ,I said a bit relieved as I thought it was going to be worse news. My GP is a red and I said. If I tell you what would you think if I said LFC going to do the treble next season? My GP said I would have you sectioned!!!. so no matter what happens next season am STAYING POSITIVE

Can't believe I missed this thread when it was first posted.  Very sorry to hear what you are going through, but it seems you have the right attitude towards it all.  I'm still dealing with a medical situation that is a big time Pain in the a.ss.  I can only say that "perspective" has a whole new meaning to me and as you said, staying positive is something that, while tough at times, actually does work.  Best of luck mate and my prayers go out to you.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

It's a sobering experience when medical emergencies hit your own family. My little boy spent over a year in intensive care and it exhausted my wife and I. I privately admit I probably suffered a minor nervous breakdown - however my point being, when you go to the cinema or somewhere with a lot of people, its odds on there's another person in there somewhere with you who is also suffering. That aspect had never occurred to me before. I used to go to the flicks and think to myself, 'whoever you are, keep your spirits up, it'll be worth it in the end'.  My little one is now 11 and yes, it was worth it even though he'll never realise what he put us through.

A few things I have learnt through this dark period of my life, are there are things I will physically and mentally never be able to do again. On March 9th 2013 my life changed forever out of the blue. It's made me realize how precious life really is. Also as a Human I now know how vunerable, fragile we are.

Heres a joke to cheer you up mate:
When the Pope came to Liverpool he asked the first fella he met when he got off the plane: "Can I pray for you my son?" "Yes" said the scouser "You can pray for my hearing"
The Pope put one finger in the scousers ear and the other hand on top of his head and prayed and prayed and prayed. After 40 minutes the Pope removed his hands and said: "Hows your hearing my son?" The scouser said: "I dont know, its not until next week..."

Sorry to hear about your troubles Dundreamin, it sounds like a very scary experience. I honestly have no idea what to tell you that can be of any help, other than to say that you can take a huge positive from the fact that the medics got you back from the brink.
