How much is reaching the final of the CL worth in money. Obviously that is insignicant when compared to the value that the supporters get but it does look good  :nod

in the region of £19m i think so far, could go as high as £25m if we win the thing.

Even if we don't qualify next year, with the money we'd get from the Uefa cup again we'd have made the equivilant of getting to the last 16 two years running i believe. So it would cover us for next season.

But seriously, look what can offer a player now...

A chance to play for the europian finalists... possibly the champions...

Alongside Alonso, Morientes, Carragher and Gerrard.

Playing for Benitez...

Pretty attractive isn't it!!

Add to that the extra revenue from bonuses in the clubs' contracts with their major sponsors and it comes to a total of around £110m.

I'm not sure this could be right, even after winning the whole thing.
If it is though..new stadium! lol

let's just say we win the CL...that's £30M+ plus another £8M for finishing 5th in the league. Being champion of Europe, we should be able to negotiate a good shirt sponsor deal for next 5 seasons. If we were to compete in CL again next season, should roll in the good bucks. All in all, pretty healthy situation ain't it?

seriously we should build on this incredible CL run and assemble a squad capable of challanging the top 3 season after season. We now have a coach who can take us places and this is no false dawn. Give him the backing and resources to do his job properly and we can be a juggernaut at home and abroad. Roll on... :eyebrow

if we win cl, that's a good 25-30m. does it mean its gonna go to the transfer kitty? with chelski tying up with sumsung and @rse with emirates et al, our sponsorship front seems all quiet. think we'd desperately need to close the domestic gap next season, and that's gonna need some injection of money!  :Oo:

Here you go:

REDS KOP BIG EURO PAY DAY

Liverpool fans are getting excited about their team competing in the Champions League final - but so are the club's money men.

As fans start thinking about heading for Istanbul after the 1-0 victory over Chelsea, the club has already netted millions of pounds from the team's progress so far.

The final match - Liverpool's first appearance in the European title's last game for 20 years - could bring even bigger rewards.

The group stage in the Champions League guarantees at least £10m plus a variety of bonuses for wins, draws and big television audiences.

Teams playing at home keep all their gate receipts - so some can raise up to £2m from each game plus increased advertising and sponsorship income.

Any team reaching the knockout stage can expect to make at least £14m each and that rises to £17m for the quarter finals and £21m in the semi-finals.

By winning the trophy itself, the champions can expect to make up to £25m plus up to £10m in TV revenue.

Add to that the extra revenue from bonuses in the clubs' contracts with their major sponsors and it comes to a total of around £110m.

so what is th edifference between winning it and not winning it?

cl champions
prize money - 25m
tv revenue - 10m
bonus etc - 65m?
total - 110m?

cl runners up
prize money - 21m
tv revenue - 10m
bonus etc - ?
total - ?

i did not know about the whopping bonuses bit. seems like we'll be milking carlsberg a bit before we part ways. :D

of course the next question is would all the money be given to rafa for players. if it is true that we'll reap in excess of 100m, the financial implications for not reaching the cl next season is not that dire. the real implication would be whether we could possibly attract quality players.
