We have now had a worse start to the season than in 2004/5 when we finished fifth.

To keep a top 4 position could be beyond us if Torres and Gerrard continue to miss games.
One of our best creative players in Benayoun went off tonight with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
Take those 3 out of the team and we could struggle to score.

At this stage is the season it looks like 5th but if current trends continue into next year 6-7th is not impossible.

A lot will depend on recovery times for Torres, Gerrard, Reira etc..

We should have won the league last season thats all I can say.

We will get 4th place. Unfortunately, that will be our cup winner. To qualify for the champions league. Sad as it is, this is our end of season celebration.

Is it a crime to bring up a relevant point?

I still fancy us to get fourth. A crucial factor which hasn't come into play yet is none of our rivals for the slot have actually smelt it yet. Once the press start talking about Spurs for example being fourth, how much it'll mean financially to get into the Champions League, which players they can potentially sign if they get in and all that old b0ll0cks, they'll sh!t themselves.Suddenly Wolves at Home with nine matches to go doesn't seem quite so easy. Add in that by then Wolves are in a relegation dogfight, the crowd are chomping away their fingernails like it's a kebab on a Friday night and every game is a potential banana skin which has been dipped in very slippery stuff before it was thrown in their path.

Allied to that, I firmly believe that by then we'll be going like a bomb and there'll be Citeh and Villa nibbling away too. The race for fourth is going to be really tight IMHO, and it'll take a mighty effort for one of the teams unaccustomed to the dogfight to get in there.

I still take us to get it, just, from Citeh.

hand on heart, we're knee deep in the sh!t
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing

Atm its hard to see us ending the season in a champions league spot considering the poor form we are in. Its like a team battling to stay in the premiership let alone challenge for the title.

Anyhow im sure sooner rather than later we will pull together and get our strongest xi on the pitch. IF we win consecutive games and go through a decent run then probably i could see us completing the season in 4th spot!

The first 3 positions will go to chelski, scums and arsenal. My worry is if citeh strengthen in january they could post a serious threat on the final champions league spot. We should be grateful that they are not firing on cylinders atm.

Spurs and villa will try to stick with the pack but i just can't see them fighting all the way come may.

Worst case scenario if these intermittent patches still persist then we will probably finnish 6th/7th!

Last season we overachieved. We finished above Chelsea who have a far more expensive squad than us. We were luckier last season that we had much fewer injuries. We also had the belief that we could win the title last season.

This season we are just cursed. Everything that could go against us, is going against us.

I think it will be a fight between us and Man City for 4th.
At the moment they are drawing too many games, but their potential spending power in the January transfer window could be crucial.
