I don't think he's been any worse than the rest of the England team.

Lampard.

Although he has the ability to turn games with his abilies he isn't Captian material and ask anyone at Liverpool who is the "real" cpatian and they will tell you it's Jamie Carragher.

Its hard to captain a squad full of egos.

Spot on, i've said the same for ages. Personally i think he is a little weak, and when he plays with the 'Big boys', he thinks he doesn't belong and hides. He also tries to hard too play for the team at England, which is to his detriment as only selfish players are given credit in the main, eg Lampard, Beckham, Ferdinand.

Had guts? dont kid yourself, he wanted to be in the limelight knowing he was rubbish throughout this match, that penalty gave him the chance to say "did I score a goal?"

A poor excuse and evading the real issue .

Stevie although an exceptional player is not cut out for Captaincy and never has been.

We all know why he is Captain ............A couple of years ago he was almost single handidly propping up the Liverpool team and was miles ahead of anybody else at the club. The fear of losing him was the real reason why he was made captain.

More recently he has been joined by colleagues who are approaching his very high standard.

Jamie C was right all along when it came to England and has probably extended his LFC career by 2 or 3 years as a result.

Dont get me wrong, im not arguing against you, I said a while back he doesnt have the leadership compared to someone like Roy Keane has and got slaughtered for it ! What im saying is the england setup is totally different. Drop the egos there and drag in the players.
