Gerrards tackling methods

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

i know he's another top player of ours, but the 2 footed lungers must stop, he is in real danger of ending a players career if he carries on like that

He's actually lucky that ref's no he tackles like this practically all the time, otherwise im sure he could of been sent-off in most matches this season

We class Smith of Leeds and Keane of the man ure dirty but well Gerrard is just about the same in my opinion

I personally have no problems with it.
He gets away with it in the premiership but I doubt he'll get away with it at Euro 2004.

Gerrard is not a dirty player.
How many red or yellow cards has he got this season ?

But is all this 2 footed tackling morally right? Imagine he does a Keane and rips apart someones ligaments and ends there careers? With todays media, he would be absolutely f##ked for.

Now, if he was to do it in the tunnel.... that would be fine. Aslong as it was against a turk

Not this alpay cr#p again.

I personally felt bad for alpay. I hated beckham for a while after that.

He was booked against Charlton.

He isn't a dirty player, he's extremely aggressive though and does snap at times. Keane is another the same. Not dirty players, just overly competative at times.

Its what makes them the players they are.

I agree fully there Stu but some of his tackles have no place on a football pitch and definitely not a Liverpool pitch. Smith is definitely dirty, you can't forgive him for some of his tackles but too be fair he has held it together over last few weeks apparently

Ah will you just lay off gerrard his class and does his best for the team.
His aggresive because of his commitment (to LFC) wish some of the other players were like that.
He shows PASSION.

Dr L you are right of course, passion is soemthing we have been alcking this season SG certainly puts it in. My only worry is refs will start brandishing cards of the red variety soon and we will have him missing for more games than we can afford....that is of course IF he is still with us!!

Grow up football is a mans game and I have probably seen 2 or 3 bad tackles Gerrard has made in 4 or 5 years.Considerin the legend that he is you have some nerve to question his style of tackling.Where would we be without him????In a relegation battle thats where!!!
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.

I'm not to bothered about Stevie going in as hard as he does but there are times I fear he's going to do HIMSELF a serious injury like Gazza in the FA cup (remember?).

An even better and more valid point WoofWoof I hate it when fellow fans can't see what is staring them in the face. We are on a downward slope and without SG we will be going faster down it. I hope he stays in the summer but I honestly see him going and then where will we be....LTD
