We the introduction of Kelly for Lucas the formation shifted to a three at the back

With the signings made during the summer is that going to the first 11 formation soon once Sakho is up to speed ?

Sakho , Toure and Agger as the three with Skrtel and Ilori back up

Kelly , Johnson and Enrique as wing backs

Lucas and Gerrard as two with Coutinho in front plus the two up front

Will it work ?

Not sure - it fits all our better players but a lot of work is needed from the wing backs

On paper I think it's a formation that looks like it will work but it never seems to be that successful

it always looks a good idea but as benny says it never seems to work.

Our fullbacks are probably not good enough to play 3-5-2. 
It might work with Johnson and Cissokho since they're good at getting forward.

If Kelly played instead of playing a centre half there we wouldn't miss Johnson quite so much if anything.

One thing his absence has pointed out is he does help the side with shape. I still think he's amateurish on the ball though.

The three centre backs will never work with Enrique as a wing back, the lads a left back. Not a wing back.

On saying that, its better to have one out of position rather than three or four.

I do think that formation could potentially get a lot out of Couthino, Suarez and Sturridge, though I agree I don’t think it would suit Enrique. Id say its worth a go in future, but only when Couthino is fit.
