First thing our owners need to do this summer... - Is bring in a new manager.

FSG will not want to upset the fans either so if they are going to bring in someone else he is going to have to be a proven continental manager, top class.

What folks haven't pointed out about Maurice and probably his biggest personal successors so far are he took two 2 teams from obscurity - Porto and Chelsea, built them up and made them winners which is exactly what we need now.

Yes at Chelsea he had the money, but more importantly he thrives on the challenge and dictates discipline and passion and is incredibly protective of his players. I'd take him in a flash and if he had KK's obvious and public support, the fans wouold accept him too.

The last thing we should do is hold ourselves back....

To succeed in the EPL, big funds need to be splashed to buy top quality players. The owners seem to be giving me the impression they are a stingy lot. They want to win but with limited funds. The over rated 35 mill. for Carroll was bought with scam money from Chelsea. If they are going to continue with this kind of conservative spending, whoever is in charge will not be able to lift us up to where we belong, not even Mourinho, Ferguson, Boas.

IMHO liverpool needs at least 60 million to buy 8 quality signings in 2 central defenders, a new goalie to replace Pepe (I'm sure he'll want to leave), 2 playmakers, 2 wingers and a backup striker. That's right, we need to bring in 8 quality signings to stand any chance. So if John thinks 60 million is too much then he is living in a fantasy world.

Ok OPINIONS aside, state FACTS that show the new owners are taking the recovery of LFC anything but very seriously.

Lets not wring our hands in public because WE dont see or understand what the owners plans are, and because of that, suggesting THEY dont know what they're doing....... come on give them a bit of credit... these are professional and successful sports franchise owners - they built the business model.

The fans will recognise Dalglish as one of us. They'll not call for his head, but if he gets funds, fails and gets replaced we'd welcome the new guy and still sing King Kenny's name, recognising that whatever happens next year, he saved us this season and brought new found belief and pride to the team.

This is not a Dalglish-is- :censored: thread, I don't think any one here including 7_Kewell is anti-Dalglish. The question is who is the best manager to take us forward? Assuming FSG value stability and will select and back a manager long-term, then given his age it is unlikely to be Dalglish in charge 5 years from now (yes, I know it could be, but...). If so, then do you replace him in the summer or wait for a year or three? That is the dilemma for the owners. I guess in the end it depends less on Dalglish and his success/failure and more on who the board feel is the right person and when they are ready for the job.

It is a question of succession planning much more than a question of is Dalglish good enough. Even if he proves to be the best manager in the world, he is not the long-term future.

I'd still give Kenny two seasons at the very least to see what he can achieve, Jesus we've missed the man for so long and now that he's back we're already talking about his successor.

Fans need to be more patient, the modern fan today is like the modern footballer, demanding success ala Torres. It's not going to happen overnight and I am very pi$$ed off in the way we lost to West Brom but I think the players need to take some responsibility at times too. We've (and lets be fair here), a s.hit squad and some of our current starters need benching at least, we'll have to see what the summer brings to get a better picture of our squad for next year. One thing I will say, I'm over the moon Kenny signed Suarez and pretty dissapointed in the fact we spunked 35M on Carroll. Of course he could turn out to be a good signing but I don't like the way our game (which was obviously) going to change to accomodate him and I'm pretty f.ucking sure Kenny isn't a long ball merchant and won't stand for that next season. By all means mix it up a bit but it shouldn't be our B plan nevermind our current A game plan.

mourihno is a damn smart a55, he pick his fight, hop clubs to beautified his resume.

if there is a club willing to give him a couple of hundred millions, he can win the league, sure,
but after 2 seasons he will :censored: off to manage other clubs bcoz that bugger knows that he cannot show long-term result. he is like a CEO who sacrifice long term prospect for short term results, get his big bonus n :censored: off.

the fans who want morinho (look i dont even bother to spell his name correctly) inplace of Kenny, they are the stupidest fans in the world.

Personally id give Kenny a chance to build his own team and if then were still a mid-table fairy unattractive team to watch id get someone else in. But if he does go in the summer id try bringing in either the Porto or Dortmund manager. Im not one of the many "diehard fans" on here who bum him into next tuesday, if he does something i dont agree with i say something. I think its funny how some people on here who slagged others off for saying In Rafa i trust, apply the same treatment to Kenny now. However i feel hes done enough at this club to be given a far crack at it.

Dalglish is hardly a miracle worker. He's done well to get us to where we are to be honest, especially considering that several of our key players have been constantly injured (Carroll, Gerrard, Kelly, Agger).

when kk replaced woy we were always going to be faced with this situation.
whether you rate him or not you cannot deny mourinho is a class act.his managerial record is outstanding and is right up there with the best in his time.
yes the man is a circus but should he become available in the summer we would be fools not to at least try to entice him to anfield.he knows and respects this club and is pining for the prem again.he craves the adoration that fans and media give him and he knows we would put him on a pedastal.
kk is doing a great job atm and has said himself he would step down should the club aqquire the services of someone better and imo if mourinho wants the job give it to him, maybe a challenge to restore this club back to the top is what he needs.
if kk isnt getting the job then i hope his replacement is of the callibre of mourinho.

I can't see why we would want Mourinho. If you thought the football was average under Rafa it would be dire with Jose. Also he's not the sort to stay anywhere long term as he's proved. He'd maybe win the title at Anfield or some cups and then push off to the next challenge i.e. Portugal coach, United, England or somewhere else. I wouldn't see Mourinho coming in as a long term solution or something that would galvanise the fans. If we're going to look to the future beyond Kenny then Boas, Coyle, Klopp or possibly Steve Clark are surely the only answers.

you do realise you're posting this while Real are systematically taking Tottenham apart in the Champions League right?
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
