Ex-red to sign for everton

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Bit supprised:

Everton have agreed to sign former Liverpool player Sander Westerveld on loan to ease their goalkeeping crisis.

The Toffees were given permission by the Premier League to sign emergency cover after suffering a number of injuries and suspensions.

Nigel Martyn is recovering from an ankle injury and Richard Wright is out for six weeks with ligament damage, while rookie Iain Turner was sent off after just nine minutes of the 1-0 win over Blackburn.

That left manager David Moyes with just teenager John Ruddy - who made his debut as Turner's replacement - as his only available senior goalkeeper.

Westerveld is currently at Portsmouth but has made just seven appearances for the club this season.

The 31-year-old could go straight into the team for the trip to Newcastle on Saturday.

Special dispensation as they have no goalkeepers.

It happens.

Hustler, when will you get the message?

As long as they are not evertonian toilets :D . Now that I think of it, everton sounds like a toilet brand...

I remember him as dodgy on crosses, alright at shot stopping but prone to too many mistakes. He had a very solid defence infront of him lets not forget. At present I think he is pretty :censored:, thats why he cant even get into pomeys team ??? He will no doubt make mistakes for neverton  :eyebrow

Are you sure?

???

I rate Sander Westerveld a lot. He's a very good keeper IMHO, key player 3 years ago, when Real Sociedad almost won the liga.

He's excellent kicking the ball, and he aims well the goal kicks. He has strong arm ball delivery and started lots of counterattacks this way. He's good in aerial balls, average on one on ones, he held the ball well. He is a strong keeper, and knows this tricks every keeper does like showing his knee to intimidate the forward, he wasn't intimidated when he struggled for a ball with tall and strong forwards of the liga.

The lad had an unfair treatment in Real Sociedad. We have a long keeper tradition, and Spanish best keeper of all times, Arconada, was one of our players. Some orthodox twáts in my crowd didn't like the fact of having a Dutch covering that position. Also he was a signing up of the president that led us to economical troubles (that led to the sell of Xabi Alonso) so as he was  quite expensive in wages (LFC sold it to us), they pressed with the colaboration of the local press and he was sold to Mallorca, where he wasn't given confidence.

One of the few times a player has been treated unfairly in my team, since he received some offers from interesting teams, and the club didn't allow him to go, because they apparently relied on him. But the board succumbed to the pressure and he was sold badly and quickly.

Looks like he hadn't luck in Pompey neither. I just feel he's an excellent keeper, of the level of Reina at the least, that has been wasted. Don't like seeing him in Neverton but, I wish him the best, he had his part of bad luck already.

On a side, funny note, I friend of mine was one of the guys that moved his things from the house when he left. His wife is nice looking and very cheerful. She was caught by my friend smoking a cigarrette and she told my friend not to say what she was doing to Sander , that he forbid that to her, and she laughed . I like girls with personality, and according to my friend she was a nice woman in all senses. Personality too.

Best wishes for Sander.

houllier jibed him coz he was too prone to mistakes and went and brought dudek and kirkland. perhaps hes not as shi,te as am sayin but maybe its a concentration levels in his game but am convinced he will make mistakes for neverton...hopefully

1 i can remember was against barce in the uefa semi at anfield he went to kick the ball and missed it, fortunately it went out for a goal kick but if it had been moving slower then the barce striker would have had an open goal, that could of been costly but fortuantely wernt. fu.cking sh.it meself tho

ave got rsepect for sander what with the treble an that but at the mo i think he is average at best

Another point for Sander, thank you.

He was jibed by Houllier, the same Houllier that brought lots of :censored:. I like Dudek, he's a nice guy, he's a hero, I love the lad, but Sander is better. And erm, I don't know how to say this, if I was a striker I would take Sander more seriously than Dudek if I had to jump for a ball.
