Dossena

I think he was hopeless against Liege in the first leg, i want to like him, but so many times Benitez signings have been disappointing. It is too early to judge but for some reason i just like Aurelio better, ill give Dossena a chance, hope he does well. Plus Djimi Traore was far worse, he went to ground too much.

I think he looks good going forward like most do.

He defo hasn't got the speed yet to deal totaly with english pace but can you blame him , he played in italy not much pace wise to deal with other there I meen even Sissoko looks fast over there.

But if he can get 3-4 more yards of pace and improve his fitness I can't see why he wouldn'y be an assiset to us.

two things that does impress me alot with him A. he has great cross on him B. he don't worrie about bombing down the wing and having a go.

But he has had spells this season he has looked all over the place I do hope he can pull it together because I really like the bloke.  :D

All I can say is that the lad has plenty to improve on. I am not so sure he will but he has every chance..

At least that's what I said last week before the Blackburn-Arsenal game when he had probably the worst game of his career and was responsible for 3 of the 4 goals.

i agree very much with u that Warnock was very good. but he had bad game against arsenal...but its arsenal. the team that scored 10 goals against us in 2 matches.
i do rate Warnock alot though.

the major problem with warnock, like aurelio, was that he was injury prone. yes i know he suffered a bad leg break but even after he recovered from that he could barely play more than three games on the trot.

that's why i couldn't understand some of the stick riise got. ok towards the end of his liverpool career his performance dropped but the guy gave us six years good service. hell before he arrived, in the treble season we had carragher playing left back.

i'll give dossena every chance to prove himself but it does make you wonder why we didn't just bite the bullet and sign evra when he was at monaco as i know we were interested.

The jury's still well and truly out for me when it comes to this, lad.  Solid not great in just about every aspect of his game so far, I would say.  Unlike others, I haven't been overly impressed with his contributions going forward but I expect he'll improve if gets the opportunity to play with Riera, who seems very good at creating space for the overlap and then delivering the ball for the LB to run on to.  Personally, I still prefer Aurelio but we'll see how Dossena fairs with Aurelio injured (again).

Yeah far too early to judge. I remember when Wenger started introducing Gael Clichy into the first team. His first less was less than average, lots of mistakes, etc. But look at him now - arguably the best left back in the league.

Looks out of place as a left back, overweight and gets too tight.

Not for me I'm afraid no. I think Aurelio is much the better full-back of the two on the occasions (which are still far too too infrequent it has to be said) that he is fit.

Quite simply, I don't think Dossena is good enough going forward to be considered a top class attacking full back, and I don't think he is good enough going backwards to be a top class defensive one either.

My biggest problem with Dossena is his silly and aimless long balls into nowhere and to nobody.

IIRC, he did it again on Tuesday. I don't know what the hell he thinks he's doing.

No recovery pace, average tackler, average in the air, average awareness, fairly comfortable on the ball, decent passer.

It may just be that he can't be arsed, isn't fully fit and/or doesn't fancy England.

Although it's too early to make a full and final judgement, the early signs of a top left back aren't there.

Left back could be a problem this season.

The early signs for Dossena aren't good.  I'm reserving final judgement though because he still doesn't look fit to me, looks to be carrying a few extra pounds.  Plus Serie A is a completely different style and pace of football to the Premiership, so he might look better when he gets to grips with it.  Wishful thinking maybe, but one thing I do like about him is his attitude, always looks up for the fight to me, even if playing badly, so he might come good.

Aurelio is a bigger liability imo.  Doesn't fancy a tackle, has a body made of glass and his delivery from open play and set pieces is woeful.  He also gives the ball away for fun.  Don't rate him.
