It may seem like a strange question, but I have noticed that Rafa seems to praise all the team when Gerrard has a storming game hardly mentioning StevieG. When Liverpool won Champions League Benitez hardly mentioned Stevies contribution but I thought at the time maybe hes trying to keep contract price down. Then Stevie says hes going "because he doesnt feel hes really wanted ?" That gets sorted and for a few games Benitez seemed to go out of his way to praise Stevie.Since then he seems to have praised everybody (even Cisse) but hardly mentioned Stevie. Even after Saturdays match when any other manager would have been shouting Stevies name from the rooftops, he seemed to try to avoid mentioning Stevies name.
           I know that Rafa has said that he doesnt like to pick out players but just to talk about the team but that didn't stop him praising Reina,Momo and Didi(who did deserve it ) and Cisse (who didn't) .Stevie and his wondergoal never got a mention. Has he got a problem with Stevie? I hope not cos we NEED both of them working together if we are to build on our recent successes.

as far as i know AB isn't LIVERPOOL 4 EVA, he's LFCFAN4LIFE, or something like that.

and i'm sure that benitez likes gerrard very, very much.

Sorry if a lot of you didnt like my post and think its sh*t and maybe it could have been phrased a bit better but if you look at other top managers and their captains i.e Ferguson with Bryan Robson and Roy Kean, Wenger with Tony Adams and Viera,Mourinho with JohnTerry they seem to have a close and special relationship with their Captain I dont believe Gerrards with Benitez is very special. As long as they both carry on doing their jobs who gives a fk but I just wanted to see if anybody else had noticed that they didnt seem very close.

Saint, it all boils down to the fact that bentiez is an asstute manager. He has a different way in dealing with these sort of things all managers are different in there own way the way they operate. Rafa is a very calm character and gets his views accross in a very interesting way, But come on we all know that rafa rates stevie big time and they have a very good relationship. All rafa has done is pointed out that players like sissoko gets through a mega ammount of work this enabling stevie to play a more offensive game, and do what he does best!! I think Rafa knows what he has and what he expects from players now like stevie and carra, when do you ever here him praising carra. But its a team game and they all play for each other. I think rafa tries to point to the areas of the park that players like mommo etc are not  getting the praise they deserve its so easy to go unnoticed all the work sissoko etc puts in. So Rafa points out these issues.

welsh wizzard  I agree that he seems to prefer praising the team and that he should single out the less well noticed(by the press) players but it was last game of season.... Stevies going to WC where their will be more than a few Managers and players out to unsettle him AGAIN. Why not show how much he is appreciated before he goes. I know it may sound petty and pedantic but after what happened last season I dont want any more "confused AND UNWANTED" problems. and even you must admit that they dont seem as close as the other captains and managers I mentioned.

You praise people who need praising, Gerrard doesnt, he knows how good he is and knows how much Rafa thinks of him, If Houllier was here we would not have gerrard.

Saint how many times have you ever heard carra say he loves Liverpool?? Never, he doesnt have to, hes not like Cisse who feels the need to mention it in every interview, because we know he does.

Somethings you just dont need to mention, rafa didnt need to mention Gerrard cos his feet did the talking although saying he is the best midfield in the world a few times in recent weeks looks a little bit like praise to me.

How many players can you honestly say look all cosy and friendly with Rafa, not one.

Rafa knows the praise Gerrard gets and he doesnt feel the need to jump on the bandwagon, it would be to easy.

Saint, i suggest you stop worrying, sit back, and enjoy the summer, we have just had a great season and the future looks as promising as ever, Stop being paranoid and trying to find something that isnt there, it doesnt help anyone.

Why not start a thread saying theres no manager or captain id rather have in the world!!!

It might be better if I just played it safe for a while or all this encouragement might just go to my head. Not bad for a first effort though..... worst post ever! I can only get better?
