The thing is, Benítez is almost ALWAYS resrved in everything he says.

I have barely EVER heard him say "VERY good" or "excellent" about something, whether it be a player or a team performance. he only ever uses the reserved term of "good"

Benítez has praised Gerrard countles times.

And besides, we don't need Benítez to tell reiterate what we all already know.

I know we dont need to hear it, but I think Stevie would like to hear it! Everyone likes praise when its due.
Benitez quote " you talk about Stevie, but if you didnt have Sissoko working hard" talk about damning with faint praise lol

Yes.

Benitez hates Gerrard so much that just the other day, I heard Rafa Benitez shouting obcenities in Spanish at him.

Gerrard said "Fuck You" and Rafa  threw a bottle at his head.

This is such a bad joke.

I think its a fair thread.

I felt Rafa's comments were a bit ungracious towards Gerrard after the game. Simple fact is that as a team we played very badly. This is one game more than any I've seen before we totally relied on one player to keep us in it.

Man management is one thing during the season when you've got to get up for another game the following week, but this is the last game for the season for goodness sake, and I think it would have been fair for Rafa to let Stevie have his day.

No matter what is said, this was Steven Gerrard's day. Biggest performance I've seen from one player in one game ever, and I was at the game in Mexico to see Maradona's so called best performance.

If there's one time Rafa could have let himself get carried away, this should have been it. I think he's a great man, but he was a bit petty on this occasion.

Rafa said the right things in public, although the team performed poorly on the whole it would be wrong to single out one player to the press it is a team game.

I would bet my life on it that privately Rafa has thanked stevie for his performance that day.
Rafa has always seemed to be a man that values team spirit and a we're in this together attitude.
Singling one player out (however superhuman his performance) would go against what he has tried to do so far.

What a stupid topic.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Thats fair enough in the course of a season. But this was a special day, a special occasion and won by a special performance. He could have been more gracious than to go out of his way to such an extent and reinforce the point that it wasnt just Gerrad that won the game.

Players have egos and Stevie's is not any smaller than Henry's, Lampard's or Ronalodinho's. But their coaches are not shy in public praise when they put in an exceptional performance.

Would not have hurt to let the lad bask in the glory he deserved.
