Arne Slot

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

How long do we wait?

Until there’s no chance of CL football next season?

This fella has tried to rebuild the team, spent a fortune and failed miserably.

He has to go. And he can take his cowardly tactics with him.

I think I'm done with Slot. I don't know what it is. If he's lost the dressing room, if he thinks he's a master tactician and will prove everyone wrong at the end of the season, somehow by some weird stroke of fate, whatever....
The team is going backwards. At an alarming pace. Every week.
We have a reliance on two ageing players who if they don't or can't perform, we suffer. And we've no plan b.
Time for a change.

Chewing my fking teeth here   :veryangry

A team of many quality players instructed by a fking egg, AKA Humpty fking Dumpty !
Lets face it lads, what has he really done since his arrival ?
OK, he won a title without making any significant changes to his predecessor's team , give him a round of applause for that  :)
Since then ? ???   :Oo:  The team has definitely slipped backwards , no way am I convinced he will ever fulfil our dreams desires and expectations !

He failed the moment he signed Wirtz and failed to build all of his new signings around him.

Wirtz is our best player by a mile, yet we don’t know how to use him.

We don’t know how to use our other signings either.

Only one person to blame for that.

I've been on the fence about Slot this season, especially after his amazing debut season with us. It's a hard ask with so many changes, players leaving new players coming in, to expect us to fire on all cylinders right away. It would take a tactical genius to be able to do that and I don't expect him to be one, but lack of common f*cking sense is where I draw the line. The fact that it took him 10 f*cking minutes to make a change and willingly leave us with 10 men on the pitch while we concede in that period is beyond belief and I honestly see no excuse for something like that. The minimum I expect of him is common sense and he seems to be lacking that as well.

It’s not lack of common sense, it’s blind panic.

He has no idea how to fix this.

Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has broken his silence with a powerful statement defending head coach Arne Slot amid growing criticism at Anfield:
“What is happening to Arne Slot is an injustice to football. Instead of sacking him after a difficult period, people should stand up, stand behind him, and support him.”
Dalglish stressed that Slot is not seeking headlines or attention, but is fully focused on his work:
“He shows up every day, every week, under immense pressure. He doesn’t point fingers, he doesn’t complain,he simply tries to make Liverpool win. That’s the mark of a top manager.”
According to Sir Kenny, judging a coach solely on a challenging transition phase is unfair.
“Liverpool became great because of belief, not panic. Big clubs don’t turn their backs on managers the moment things get tough.”

I'm sick of the excuses now. We need to take immediate action to try and salvage the season. I said it 4 weeks ago, and nothing as improved... we've drawn 3 and lost 1. Ive seen enough to know hand on heart that we are not going to get the results we need to get in the top 4 if Slot stays. The £10m it'll cost to pay slot off will be alot cheaper than losing out on a potential £100m for not qualifying for the UCL.

Kenny is a class act, but even support from the King won’t stop what’s coming.

Newcastle and City next for us in the league, no way we’re winning either of those.

We’ll be mid-table by then, imagine Slot will go shortly after (especially if we get a thrashing from City).

Dalglish backed Rodgers all the way and in the summer of 2015 he wrote a piece in his column stating that Liverpool will make changes but Rodgers wont be one of them. Fast forward 2 months and hes out the door.  He also backed Roy to the hilt and even when he took over from him he still gushed about him stating that he had nothing to prove. Kenny is a legend who has an opinion but thats as far as it goes. The heirarchy is who call the shots and if the relationship with them breaks down then your gone.

As bad as things are i believe we can beat both Newcastle and City as we usually raise our game in the big matches.

Let see how Kenny feels about it if we go through another summer window and next season by Oct things are the same.

I struggle to see Slot sorting this mess.

Im watching Arsenal here and every player is running off of the ball making space to play into. When we get the ball every single player apart from Wirtz is static. Our wide players can no longer beat their man, thats become a huge problem as most of our success under Klopp came from players like Salah, Mane, Diaz, Jota players who had the ability to take his man on and cause chaos. Salah at present couldn't win a foot race vs Trippier.

We need pacey wingers, we need a proper no6 and we need a world class CB. And the fact we're gonna stand still in this window is going to prove to be very costly.

No disrespect to "King Kenny" BUT even the finest of Kings sometimes get it wrong.
Arne Slopp is taking us nowhere near to glory.  :kungfu:

Spekaking of static players, my bigger concern is how static we are in defence. Look at Bournemouth's second goal from yesterday. The player that did the assist had all the space and all the time in the world to look up, chose where he wants to pass, with no pressure on him at all. He literally walked the ball all the way to the final third while players (Gakpo) were jogging around him. Not closing down players like that during Klopp's time and he would have ripped our boys to shreds, under Slot it happens way too often.

Last season I liked how Slot slowed down the tempo just a little bit but this season it's a lot more slower and this current tempo is just unfit for this league. We might not need full throttle pressing all the way to the oppo's goal all the time but we just can't allow their players to walk around our defensive final third with no pressure on them.
