Aquilani Situation is doing my nut in.

20m and sitting on the bench. Rafa is a wuss, too chicken to risk him. He is not a risk taker. protectng him like he is a poor little lamb.

Listened to the match on radio 5 live and they were saying , where is aquilani, didnt come on. he needs games to get fit, not just 10 mins even.

He must be fit-ish or he wouldnt be on the bench. IMO he should now be playing 45mins at least, because thats how you get MATCH FIT!! isnt it?

Also, like Roy Evans was saying on LFC channel after the match, there are loads of prep/ come back games available in the reserves etc, so surely aquilani must have had plenty of these, and should have before even getting to the subs bench.!

He has to get used to English game, tempo, crunching tackles etc, and keeping him wrapped in wool wont help him.

simples!

Let's see, three subs a match...

One gets burned on the big Grok after Agger gets injured.

Another gets used up putting a still not quite fit Yossi on when Babel gets hurt in order to keep our shape.

The third and final gets used to shore up our rather exposed left flank after a not quite fit Yossi runs himself into the ground for the cause.

The result?  Rafa doesn't have a spare sub to use on Aquilani.  I'm sure Alberto would have featured as a sub had it not been for injuries but, hey, any stick to beat the manager with right...

I still think my idea was a better one Bob. We should have left Masch at full back when Agger went off, moved Carra to CB and brought on Aquilani. More creativity, a full back that can get up and down the pitch and no Big greek...... perfect world.

hmmm not too sure... the way I saw it, Lucas was a passenger and Mascherano was one of our better players the whole game, bringing the ball up and passing decently from the middle. How would a midfield with Lucas and not 100% fit aquilani fare? Another incident is when Masch played at right back there when we were 10 men down, he completely lost Barry who if he realised he had plenty of time, could have taken the ball down and we would be in alot of trouble. Also, the greek didn't play too badly... the goals were actually Skrtl's faults...

Right a perfect world...until after the match when post after post is about how Rafa insists on playing people out of position.  :D

Who would you rather risk injury by starting in the next game Aquilani or Gerrard?

I'd risk them both.. we may need to win by a four goal margin.

Why would we have to win by four?
If fiorentina win we are out if they dont we are still in?

So our fate rests in the hands of fiorentina, bugger. How much money will the club lose if it drops out at this stage?

If Lyon get a draw then we would need to qualify by goal difference which will be a four goal margin and then we would have to beat fiorentina.

SURELY he cant be far away now...

A bit of a joke playing Dossena instead of Aquilani to be honest even though it was still very late in the game.

Cant see him starting against Everton.

I am really struggling to understand this, he is back from injury, he needs to gain match fitness so what do we do, sit him on the bench.

He's never going to gain match fitness on the bench, we are crying out for creativity from midfield and Rafa persists in two holding midfielders Lucas and Masch and its not as if they are preventing goals as we are leaking them at an alarming rate.

Rafa must start to play him, if he does not want to risk him during his usual sub routine (60 - 65mins) then why not start him and sub him when he gets tired.
