Apparently around 4 mill, but we will pay half his wages for the next two years so we gave him away for free.

on the offal

Liverpool Football Club can today confirm that Alberto Aquilani has completed a permanent transfer to Serie A side Fiorentina.

The Italian midfielder joined Liverpool in 2009 but made just 28 first-team appearances having spent the last two seasons on loan in his homeland.

Everyone at the club would like to wish Alberto all the best for the future.

Just had to take the hit and move on in what was our worst ever transfer deal pre Carroll.

Been clear for long enough that no one would pay for Acqua and he wouldnt leave without
maintaining the wage level hes contracted to with us so we were snookered.

We may have to accept a few more big hits whilst Rodgers clears the decks and frees up
funds to re build the squad and some of these guys have been stinking the place out long
enough now.

Dan Kennett ‏@DanKennett
From what I've gleaned from Italian correspondents, any transfer fee will simply subsidise AA's wages in next 2 seasons #lfc

so yeah - we basically did give him away for free!
