the japaense and koreans make all the best films lately apart from some quality independants

Bought "old boy " the other day . Excellent ,another glimpse of how good korean cinema can be .

Bought "Ichi the Killer" on monday, made mistake of watching it whilst eating my dinner . One scene has a guy suspended naked a few feet above the ground by a dozen or so fish hooks stuck into his back, arms and legs ,he then has a pan of boiling cooking oil slowly poured over him .Put me right off my cod an chips    :( .

NOT looking foward to the remake of "Infernal Affairs" ,can't think of ANY hollywood remake that has bettered the original..

horror movies i find are quite dull, i would rather watch a good action movie, or a comedy instead.

Recent films i've seen and enjoyed:

Layercake - Bought it the other day - Not in the same league as Lock Stock or Snatch but well worth a watch if you enjoy a British gangster movie.

The Grudge - Not exactly new but blooody brilliant. Watch it on your own in the dark with the surround sound on loud - I crappped myself!

The Forgotten - Picked this one out from blockbuster the other day. If you likie the X-files you will love this film. Starts a bit slow but picks up as it goes along.

woof, u have taste sir
itchi the killer is knida gross i admit lol but is quality, some real cool scenes.

as for old boy, how fantastic is that film? Saw it like ayear ago on japanese export, genius film.

And infernal affairs remake. i actually think it will work well, matt damon and leo taking the lead roles, could all be great.

the eye one and two should be seen next, the pang brothers at there best.

and dark water original has one of the freakiest moments ive seen

i wasn't that impressed by 'dark water', but then i'm not really a horror fan. it does a few moments/images that still lurk in the back of my mind though. watched 'requiem for a dream' last night - bonkers it is, just gets more and more tense all the way through. but its brilliant and only after seeing it do you realise just how much its been imitated.

another film i've seen recently that i loved is kusturica's 'life is a miracle'

i'm really looking forward to seeing 'downfall' and 'sin city' and i'm deffo going to check out some of the korean films soon, i'm hearing no end of good things about them.

I missed out on "Downfall" last week as I went to the pub instead.

Years ago I was a massive film freak, but I'm not as dedicated as I once was.
