Watched Salton Sea last night, can't believe I missed it when it came out (10 years ago !) Neat movie starring Val Kilmer, well worth watching.

Couple I caught over Xmas

The Butler, felt like I was watching "The Colour Purple " for men, not bad but any movie that attempts to cover several decades ultimately becomes "shallow"

Runner Runner, there's a good movie in there somewhere trying to get out, unfortunately it didn't  :D , not bad but not that good either.

Saving Mr Banks, I like Colin Farrell  but this movie was a bit "Meh"

American Hustle.

Almost as good as the "hype"that's surrounded it makes it out to be.

Didn't have the laughs that the ad's seemed to suggest but nevertheless one of the best movies I've seen this year 8/10

You know me far too well Red

:D

@ KK . Lone Survivor  :nod  good movie, a kinda mini "Blackhawk Down"

in addition to Lone Survivor over the New Year also caught

12 Years A Slave.

I spent some years in South Africa and am familiar with full on racism but some of the stuff the Americans got up to in an earlier era still shocks me. 8/10

Out of the Furnace

Christian Bale and Woody Harrelson , fairly good movie, let down by slightly limp ending but worth a watch 6/10

If you like movies that are off the radar then Starlet is a good watch in my opinion.

Stalingrad 2013

This is massive disappointment for me considering the budget involved.

I stick with Cross of Iron any day

Watched it last night Laza. Like you I found it a major disappointment

Early narration says that it was the largest battle in the history of mankind and the film then focuses on just half a dozen characters in ONE house overlooking the famous Barmaley Fountain (which was heavily featured in Enemy at the Gates).

For me the film failed on so many levels the prime one being that as an account of the battle for Stalingrad it was incoherent and massively cliched .

With a budget of $300 million some of the sets were spectacular, it's unfortunate they didn't spend more on "plot" and script.

Watched Out of the Furnace, disapointed a little, very slow and an hour to build up with silly little side stories. 6/10

Wolf of Wall Street, I quite liked this bio of Belfor which was funny in parts, worth a watch. 8/10

The Package, Steve Austin & Dolph Lungren. STEER FVCKING CLEAR OF THIS, I knew it was s.*i*e but was a captive audience thanks tot he father-in-law. 1/10.

       , yer poor sod.

Caught  "The Secret World of Walter Mitty" the other night.

Had it's moments but those critics comparing it to "Forest Gump" are way off base.

One of those movies that's easy to watch and just as easy to forget, I'd rate it at 6/10.

The Wolf of Wall Street another top  movie from Scorsese although at three hours running time it's sometimes a long but never the less enjoyable watch with Di Caprio coming across as a mix between Wall Streets Gordon Gecko and Goodfella's Henry Hill . 8/10

Went to see American Hustle. Mixed feelings after reading all the brilliant reviews. Some great acting. Two and a quarter hours. Went away feeling  I'd missed something? Too much hype does this. I think I was just expecting too much.
